What a great tribute to a great man. Can anyone shed any light on why no current players attended the ceremony??

Uh oh... Dont open that can of worms. lol. I thought the same myself. Saw the Coach there tho. Maybe he wanted to boys focused on the day of a game, albeit a trial. But with Caylo not playing, he should have definately been there.

I'll add to your Hypothetical, Stagger.

So instead of erecting a statue, the stadium trust publicizes that they are renaming a box in tribute temporarily to Ray Price, then announce that the proposed Southern Stand is to be named the Ray Price Stand? would that have eased your concerns about the recognition of the player?

I think I answer that here..

yep..more than happy with the idea of naming the East and West Terraces and infact if they compensated the re-naming of the Price lounge to the the Price terrace I would of been more than happy and a statue wouldn't of been necessary.

Mark, this is not about the squabling from both sides of the fence which i admit has been down right petty from both sides but it is about maintaining a a sense of history and culture at the club which we haven't had for a long time and you'd know by now how much all this stuff means to me as a supporter.

Yeah I know what it means to you Stags, again I just wonder if there was a better way around it for all concerned.

ok..so you suggested that we tell Ray, that although the naming rights of the Western function room has been taken away can you please show a little patiance while we try get some federal govt funding for the southern stand, which may or may not come, and we'll name a piece of that after you?? :?

After all the sh*t that Ray has slung at our club in the past 20 years, he should be thankful that he's got anything IMO.

No, I would suggest we tell Ray.

1) That the club is terribly upset with they Trust's moves and will change the name of the Western Function Room every time we hire the Stadium, we will also market the venue as the Ray Price Lounge it until. .

2) The Stadium trust gets out and builds a much needed southern grandstand for the great fans at Parramatta to enjoy premium facilities like Gymnasium and Function Facilities at the venue, and

3) the Club will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Trust to ensure that the Southern Stand is named the Ray Price Stand once it is completed.

4) I would also point out that the Stadium Trust box was re-named after him, for the duration.

That would have also ramped up the "Bickering" putting the onus back on the Stadium trust to actually do something that will ensure that all sports fans and citizens of the area will benefit from their expenditure instead of something that will give some fans a warm fuzzy feeling when the walk past the Statue.

Well after flushing millions of dollars on Parra Power and other great things away, I dont see how $100k is an issue except for the fact that it was a statue of Ray Price.....maybe Fitzy is upset cos it wasnt of him

fanatstic..ok

here's a Hypathetical for you.

Ray cops it on the chin..and the matter is forgotten about.

whilst we're using the Kenny,Sterling,Cronin, Thornett and O'Reilly's name around the ground do you believe that we should just wash our hands on the decision and not worry about it? because you can bet your bottom doller if Ray and the fans hadn't reacted the way they did, Fitzy wouldn't of given toohoots about compensating the fact they've renamed the Western lounge.

honestly guys, if I want to play the tit for tat stuff, than I'd ask the question of how much did Fitzy's 30 years celebratory dinner cost??..but hey, he got it..he deserved it..let's move on.

As Danteri said.... enough money has been wasted on failed ventures that this club bought into.... a statue will at least be around for a long time   unlike Parra Power

Thing is though Stagger, the statue(which I do think is good to have) isnt in the club, isnt done by the club, and really has very little to do with us, so, IMO, it doesnt really maintain any culture of history at the joint, because it has been done despite the club to spite Fitzy ;-)

What happens in 5 years if we relocate? Do we pack the statue up and take it to homebush?

well fish as a major tennant of the stadium with our CEO and our leagues club chairman sitting on the board of the trust I'd say it would have a fair bit to do with us.
