So Which Play Was Worse...

No Jobdog, winning the game was great rugby league , with two decent halves.

As opposed to letting a 14 point lead slip with half a half.

Not only was one kick good and the other one rubbish. One was most probably necessary while the other one was 100% not necessary.

Saying that though, Gidley's was the worst my a country mile. Absolute brain explosion.

Hang on. So the fact Mullo and Rogers both got injured, leaving Scott as the only one left, was all his fault?

And Adsy, yes Gids' was the worst of the three. If only fractionally worse than Rogers' one last week.

Karma, in all seriousness mate do you actually blame Dureau for that loss? And don't turn your answer into a rant about him kicking the ball out over the dead ball line.

It was 24 - 10 with less then 20 minutes to go. You can't blame the sub halfback for 3 tries in 10 minutes.

Nope, but the inability to be able to step up and take control of the match with his supposed great kicking game, and his infamous ability to lead the boys around the park with a 14 point lead is...

Anyway, he has the team all to himself this week, lets see what kinda NRL level talent he has.

Of course not, but the ability that everyone goes on about here how he organises and leads his team around the park really well, was clearly missing.

Lets see how he goes on Saturday.

He gets the team all to himself , no more excuses from anyone.

We'll check out his ability to play at NRL level in the next few weeks won't we.

Well, we managed to do the exact same thing on the Gold Coast, without Scott. Or are you going to excuse them for that because a) it was the first game of the year, and b) only Scott's "capable" of "surrendering a lead"?

That was a very tired and injury depleted side in the last 20 mins he had to lead around.

Also Saturday will more likely then not be a slaughter with the amount of players we will have out. So it would be good if Dureau was judged on his individual game not the score line.

Saying that, I agree that his own game when he came on, on Sunday was not the best.

Will beinteresting to hear he injury news on Rogers and Mullen to get a better view on how many weeks back to back Dureau will get in the 7.

hmm this is a tough one lets see

Who is the slowest - Dureau
Who is the smallest - Dureau
Who gives away the most penalties - Rogers
Who makes the most errors - draw
Who kicks out on the full the most - draw
Who makes the most stupid decisions - draw
Who makes the most unsuccsesful chip kicks - Rogers
who gifts possesion back to the opposition through pointless kicks early in the tackle count the most - draw

So in conclusion they are both terrible players and even if you combined all their best attributes into one player that player would still suck.

WHY DIDN"T WE SIGN BRETT FINCH ARRRRAHGHH

I see wave #2534728 of Dureau hate from Mr Agenda didn't take too long :p

Do you rate Farah by any chance Karma? He did the same as Dureau earlier with a short kick out on the full...

What would you have done at halfback with 2 mins go to and 2 behind? Just pass the ball on to one of the forwards throughout the set and boot it up on the end at the last to surrender the game?

Edit: How about you direct your agenda towards the rest of the team who got us in that position in the first place - rather than your favourite supersub who was thrust into the main playmaking job in the team (yes, the one that helps create tries) when we needed a last ditch attempt at points, and who very nearly became a better supersub than Craig Wing ever was for NSW with the kick to Sau at the end!

Good call Serc ....once again Karma shows his complete lack of knowledge of the game and his ignorance of facts....what is is with him did scott steal a girlfriend of his once or is it just jealousy of his natural talents.

We probably could have done worse then Finch. But Finch would have no reason to come here.

Playing in a club like melbourne will drive up his price.
We couldnt afford the $300k + he'll command(Nor should we pay that much!)

He isnt a good fit for us for the price, and nor are we a good fit for him.

You can't tell me that a kick across field on our own 20 in the first tackle which made us 10 metres was "necessary"...it was a fine kick agreed - just a play that was completely unnecessary, full of risk and panic and stifled all the hard work up the middle that the backs and forwards did all day. It says to me that he had so little faith in his own players around him that it was up to him to pull off a miracle play to save the day.

And I actually called him a smart thinker last week. Unfortunately he does not appear to be even that.

Well he is a Newcastle junior he grew up here.

We have more room under the salary cap then Melbourne do

He could be coached by Andrew Johns.

What reason did he have to go to Melbourne? if he is only interested in money why is he playing for minimum wage at the storm and not over in europe?

I could understand if we offered him a deal and he rejected it for more money elsewhere but we flat out said not interested which i think is strange since our alternatives are.

6.Rogers
7.Mullen

7.Dureau
6.Mullen

neither have any hope of winning a premiership.

Exactly, not a hope in hell.

But

6. Bird
7. Mullen

might win one. ;-)

Its only wishful thinking that this administration will even have the balls to seriously go after a local junior and bring him back home though isn't it...

One day Brian Smith will realise that the reason he hasn't won a competition yet, is because he tries doing it with halves who are only very average first grade footballers. He has done so for years, from the Dragons days, to the Eels days and now to the Knights...

Please Burro, give us something to cheer for , go make a serious bloody offer to Greg Bird. You sure as sh*t never tried to get Todd Carney.

Greg Bird can come home to Newcastle, and at the same time, remove himself from the Sydney publicity thats hounded him for the last year.

That appeal alone, could be enough to get him over the line if the money is competitive.

Mate i realise you started the post but from your posts i dont even know that you know what kick your talking about? the kick you seem to be talking about didnt go to Sau it went to jimmy. Scott did a similar kick (not from our own 20) to jnr that made us quite a few metres and put Sau 1 on 1 with the fullback, a genuine scoring chance, particularly if he had 1 support player.

On those crossfield kicks being risky, i think i have seen scott try them 6 or 7 times this year and each time they have found the hands of our winger, most of them have led to scoring opportunities and a lot of meters. He had to try something, in hindsight not the best play but we didnt go backwards or lose the ball....n fact we would of scored in the dying seconds if not for a sh*t call on a forward pass.

That said i think scotty being on the bench is a shocking option...the only time it would pay dividends is if mullen is injured (i realise in hindsight it happened). he is our 2nd best half but you would never sub your halfback throughout the game... he cant cover any other position, he goes ok at hooker but we have better options there. Hard to come on fresh and organise a team in the 65th minute. Scotty should start or not play, poor coaching that turned out ok due to injuries, he would of watched for 80 minutes otherwise.
