The race to the Premiership is a marathon, not sprint.
It's like saying, "Oh, you know - Michael Schumacher won the Grand Prix of Monaco, but Mark Webber was leading for the first 3 laps so he was driving better."
There is not a single player in the competition who can fire for 26 consecutive weeks, plus finals and rep football. It's just too demanding a task.
As for his early season form, it wasn't half as bad as you make it out to be - at 5/8, an entirely new position for him, he made bucketloads of tackles (many of them try-savers) and actually made plenty of metres from hit-ups. He then moved to centre where he nearly scored three tries in one half of football (poor handling on his behalf being the main reason he didn't succeed in doing so).
As I said, I don't think he should win. But if he did, it wouldn't be any less deserved that Jamie Soward or Brett Kimmorley or whoever else winning it.
Race to the premiership? I thought we were talking bout the Dally M Medal. I'll go along with your F1 example. Soward has been very good for large parts of this season, including during Origin time. Its not like Soward simply played great for the first 6 or 7 rounds, then simple tailed off. As i said there is a reason his team is in with a shot to win the minor premiership while Hayne's side had to rely on an amazing hot streak to barely make the 8.
One of the main reasons i started this thread is that its annoyed me how much of the Parra streak has been attributed to Hayne, yet a guy like Fui Fui, who is in sensational form and is the guy who is setting the platform for Hayne to weave his magic, hardly gets any main-stream recognition.
