i have had it confirmed, the three Wilson, tony and regan are the only younger players that will be selected in either squad. depending on trial form they may all remain at penrith or all three could end up at the academy. This is DUMB, it worked too well last year in sg and matts at the academy with the year younger players, ending in a defeat for penrith sg ball at home by the academy. I thought jimmy was smarter than that, but maybe not!!!!!!! What will the make up of a 17s developement squad look like? halfback, do you know if selectors have discussed the make up? it would be interesting to not only see who is in but who is left out all together. Penrith might play games with players from an unsuccessful year this year.

The selectors havent discussed the development teams as yet. Just concentrating on the matts and ball.

To be honest a lot of them boys shouldnt
be there based on this years performance and a few more boys should that you haven't named.
The idea to not have 17 yr olds in wsas ball is just stupid. I can't get my head around that. It worked so well last year, why not try it again?
Half back is this a reason why they haven't decided on taking 17 yr olds?

Footyboy, who would you leave out and who is missing? Academy sg ball should be at least 50/50 17 year olds to strengthen penrith sg ball for 2011, blind and stupid freddy knows that makes sense!!!!!!!!

ahh thats good to know im glad that is the case gives players more time to prove themselves on a higher stage

also the 3 17-year olds that wil be playing sg ball this year for either team are really the only ones who deserve it if tiegh was such a superstar he would of led his team past 10th spot the same goes for heterick and tavita they only deserve to be in development thankfully the selectors have woken up jim jones is smart he knows that this years sg ball is far more talented age group that the 1 below he is not gonna suddenly put teigh and the rest of them in ok so there is not use to be talking about it lets concentrate on the sg ball team and not the bitterness of a few 17 year olds

You really know your stuff art. It was 7th spot, and using your logic, the 3 superstars, regan, wilson and santini, should have led the team past 10th (7th).What happened? Jimmy really knows his stuff, he appointed this years coaches(2009) but not 2010, he had it taklen out of his controll. What we are talking about is exactly what you are, having a strong sg ball at penrith by using the academy for some younger players for the year after like they did this year. the penrith sg ball should be totally of age players, that makes them strong next year and the years after.

im not denying that penrith should be pick younger kids for acdemy in the future but u have to look at the reasons behind this the age group this year where undefeated in harold matts and stubeled at the grand final harold matts this year came 7th sori not 10th

its obvious that the sg ball age group is much stronger than the 1 below it hence them only picking 3 players its all about developing players and there will be many that miss out if younger players are picked its beter to keep a strong tight development team that but kids into ball

in ur view micro who shud be picked for sg ball from the younger guys if they where 2

I beleive that sweet-as knows a lot about the 16s but chooses his teams based on what he has heard sometimes more then what he has seen. Sorry mate:)
Based totally on this years performances i have witnessed.

Glenmore Park-
Jason Antonelli
Tony Sotini
Stevie Miscevic
Aaron Taavale
Nelson Tuia
Jake Webb
(Nathan Antonelli* Signed to Roosters i believe)

St Clair-
Ryan Wilson
Jake Attard
Zach Ryan
Tekina Vailea

Brothers-
Reece Regan
Ben Heterick
Brendan Heather
Matt Hill
Clay Robinson
Kai Williams

Windsor-
George jennings
Pat Hollis
Richie (#1, Fullback)

St Marys-
Tai Tuivasa
Jason Doran
Tevita Vave
Joel Waddell
Johnny Tapuiaga
Joe Lee V.

Minchinbury-
Tony Palemia
Teoke Kahurua

Blacktown City-
Riki, not sure about last name.
Plays Fullback, Centre, Half, 5'8.
Good Player (likes to fight though)

As i have said before Reece, Tony and Wilso deserve to be there. WSAS SG Ball should be 17s, as it helps these players to develope for the next year. 18 yr olds that play for Academy, well unless they get noticed by another club, Penrith wont look at them again.
And that would be my squad for 17s 2010.
Opinions would gladly be appreciated...

Any of you guys know that you have signed Darcy Horgan from Hervey Bay Seagulls ? Turns 18 next year so SG Ball eligible. He was in Bronco development squads since 14 and played for QLD in 15s.

Art, What you say is right, next years Penrith sg should be u/18 2010. They are strong and should have won matts 2008, were the best team. I am only saying Penrith should use half wsas squad for the year younger in sg ball and matts, to prepare them for the step up the next year at Penrith. 2010 wsas, penrith should have regan, wilson and santini but also if penrith thinks tai has anything to offer they should keep him close and under their wing, keep him training and building, hetrick is just a natural, he has something a little special, in my opinion, and tavita or sunni would be a smart choice, throw in jason antonelli, matts player of the year.

Darcy is one of three QLD players in the ball squad at the moment.

There is no doubt that last year was disappointing for the Matts team, and thier performances were a contributing factor in only 3 being selected again. Atlhough I agree with the majority that Academy should be used as a development team at least 50/50 17s and 18s. What is the point of choosing 33 18 year olds when only a few ball players ever make grade. better off developing the top of the next age group in Academy than hanging on to extra 18 year olds who will never get there.

Halfback, is there q/land academy teams coming down this year, penrith sent two teams to q/land last year and i thought it was alternate annually. cost cutting has probably put an end to this initiative.

[The picture you guys are not seeing is that we have other teams that need to be filled eg toyota cup and 1st grade. Last year was a trial for younger guys in wsa, while it did have some good points i feel the bad points were greater. for example between 10 and 15 players now to old for 20's, because we had no 18 yo in accadamy we can only draw on sg ball. We really should of had another 10 boys in the district with specialised training and coaching who could be ready to take the step up.
It is a well known fact that alot of boys of non pacific islander heritage develop at a slightly older age proof of this is mat moylan never in a rep team till this yr now in 20's, blake austin always a rep but never in older age till this yr made aussie schoolboys and played 10 games in 20's, malakai watene made nsw schoolboys bought into 20's. Dave farkas in wsa 2yrs ago has now been bought into 20's squad to train. Mat penitani couldnt get picked at penrith trialled with parra went through acamedy from parra and then penrith get him back the next yr for sg ball. There are a hell of a lot of kids if given a chance could become anything. This is what acadamey was bought in for, selectors dont always get it right. Funny to notice parra went with younger kids first year, but this year actually went for older kids.
