I think greed has everything to do with it, Test players of the past will be rolling over in there graves over his tickets and money comments on playing for Australia.

I saw an example recently relating to this, I Joe Blow is earning 50k a year with his employer and another employer wants to offer Joe 150k to work elsewhere, then why shouldnt he take it. Well he should take it, and probably will, but you can bet your a** that he wouldnt do as much whinging and posing as Hayne.

Half of those Test players would have taken the money and run if union and AFL had been in the position to offer them twice as much cash. They weren't given the opportunity, so they stayed.

And Joe Blow doesn't have reporters stopping him before and after training to ask his opinion, so you wouldn't know whether he was whinging about his position or not. Hayne will leave and good on him, he deserves to earn as much as he can and not belimited by an arse-backwards and inflexible salary cap.

OMG Hayne is only getting 4 free tickets to the GAME! WE CANT HAVE THAT, hopefully they have a panel discussion and inquiry over this utter mistreatment of Mr Hayne

Yes, based on form, thats one ticket for every try he is likely to score this year.

Perhaps he should worry less about his bank account and more about getting over the line for his team a bit more often. He can be the most brilliant player in the game at times, but he also has the ability to look like a disinterested loafer as well. In 2008 a lot of Parra fans were wondering why they'd forked out so much to keep him and wondering where his good form had gone. He only played about 3 months of good footy last year (to be fair it was brilliant Footy) and he hasn't exactly started this year off with a bang. Perhaps Parra should tear up his contract and start paying him by the try?

Shut up Hayne, you pieced together an amazing 4 months of form and now think you are an authority on all things rugby league? Try and back up one year and prove it wasn't luck and people might give a toss what you say

We'll see him return to that form in 2013 when he's playing for his contract again ;-)

I agree, good on him for earning as much as he can while he can, and just as much as $BW and Gasnier, he won't be missed

I would love to be earning the type of money these guys get for doing something they love.

I wonder what type of job Jarryd would have if he did not play footy?

Whatever it would be i don't think he would be earning $500k a year.

Just shut up and play footy.

A classic case of a player starting to believe his own hype.

Jaryd, you're not that good, nobody cares.

Club team match payments = $3000AU

I recall Willie Mason years ago saying that he feels for the minimum wage footballer also and that the cap should increase or be fair on all... take what you want from that. He was earning a lot more than those boys. lol

and after that the minimum wage for a footballer was raised.
he actually brought change to the cap
there was a larger than planned raise in the cap then too

but honestly they are offered more for other codes but its not what they love to play
to take SBW's idea of bus drivers
they love to drive buses, and theyre offered double to drive trucks. i suppose you could do that, but its just not the same
which is why everyone returns to the game they love.

so its obvious they do not love the game more than they love the money

What do you think Hayne is worth to the game.
A hell of a lot.
Because of him a new generation of fans were brought to the game last year.
Imagine if he did sign to another code...these kids would have been devistated.
The code needs the new generations who come because of Benji,JArrod,Billy and co...these players attract the future of the games income.
They will buy merchandise, go to games get pay TV and then introduce their kids to the game...its a cycle.
So many of us are fans because of what we got into as a kid...so many of us didn't have as many choices.
Kids have so many choices today....go see the AFL or Union and their stars (Who ever they are)...or go see Benji and Jarrod...imagine these players were not here...go see Keating and Smith.
These players are not just worth alot for what they bring now....but what they bring for future.
It makes sense for everybody.
the players are happy and will stay.
The fans are happy and will go and spend.
Pay Tv has a futurue generation that will take up subscripion.
FTA has more future viewers.
Its a win win for all...pay them what they are worth and pay the fringe players who add depth what they are worth so they can earn a living here and not OS.

Let him go. easy to replace an outside back. Dugan, Locke, Coote, Hoffman, these guys will be the next superstars while Hayne is catching a cold out on the wing in Yawnion. Now Thurston, that's another kettle of fish. There just isn't that many superstar halves coming thru....

This would be the same Hayne that turned down a larger $$ wise contract to stay with the Eels. I think it was Souths that was after him. He was also bitching his family only got 4 free tickets. Buy the family some you tight wad Haynes.

Love for the game wont get them far when they retire at 30 years old and the vast majority do not have the skills to have a career in the media afterwards. In the end this is their career and it is a short one, so whats the problem with them trying to make as much money as they can?

We'll miss him as much as that bloke whose uncle is an Immortal, and the other bloke who had a shoulder charge, nice tats and the IQ of an iguana.
And he'll come back ala Sailor, Lote, Tim Tam Tahu...
