Graham isn't a halfback.

If you buy him to play halfback that is totally destined for failure.

He is too big to be a halfback. He isn't quick enough to be halfback.

He is a five-eight or Ball Playing lock.

I'd be happy with him at 6 and have kelly, townsend and Porter fight for the 7 until we find a long term answer.

I agree K.

Gee it must be really close to our turn to get a No7 that is going to set the club alight.

One can only live in hope.

Just get a backline 'we' can have confidence in. Sh!t it has been a long long time.

Cheers

Personally I hope you don't get Graham because he is important to the future of our team.

But I cannot justify the amount you are willing to throw at him.

If he wants to stay for $200k he can, but for $275k with potential to earn $350k if he meets KPI's for a 19 year old five-eight...I can't justify that type of spending.

Do you have inside info reefy or are you just wrong?

Bailey is playing bench for Manly, Graham and Tighe are playing NRL and Nielson is travelling as 18th man for the storm.

I'm not jumping for joy over these potential signings but they are more than could be expected in these times.

Firstly, not all of them are signed. Of that group not 1 is a starting first grader. All of them has spent the majority of the year in the lower grades, with the exception of Neilson , who has only recently been demoted, adding weight to the speculation about us signing him, I reckon.
Tighe is capable of brilliant football but how would he fit in our backline with Gordon. Absolute lightweight clones. Where does Bailey fit in? he has lost so much pace since being at Manly his only real use is a utility. But i see Aiton as our utility with Joudo our hooker. Graham is a first receiver or 2nd receiver , so don't listen to what Big Mick says. He is stuck in the old days of half passing to 5/8, which is probably the case at Penrith still, but other clubs certainly play left & right first receivers.

We're the Cronulla sharks....paying overs is in our nature.

You are a clown.

Only reason Tighe and Graham were in lower grades was because they were recovering from injuries.

Tighe and Graham have been in first grade since like Round 3.

Only injuries have forced them out of the team.

Both are consistent first graders. I think I know more about my teams own players than you.

Get a clue you moron halfwit.

If he meets those KPI's then he is a very good buy.

As the old saying goes - you got to give a little head to get ahead.

Some decent names tossed up in this thread, a couple of them and I think we'd be doing very well.

People are talking about Graham and Bailey's passing game, how are their kicking games?

Wade Graham 25/10/1990 8 2 0 link
8 appearances in NRL out of 20 this year.

10 minutes off the bench rnd 8 = 2010 debut

Round 1 story which confirms he has been available all year for selection

Panthers: Elliott leaves Wade Graham in cold
March 12, 2009
As the Panthers prepare to take on the Cronulla Sharks at the weekend, has coach Matt Elliott got the halves mix right or has he once again ‘tinkered’ too much with a promising combination?
Rookie half Wade Graham was told earlier in the week he wouldn’t be in the side for the clash, with Penrith veteran Luke Lewis getting the nod over the teenage sensation. So as Jarrod Sammut comes back into favour with coach Elliott, another rookie on the rise gets pushed back out of the side.
Graham confirmed he was “shattered” to be omitted from the Penrith season opener against Cronulla on Saturday, will all eyes now focused on the match – with a fresh new season allowing the Panthers to rebuild and start again; many punters were stunned to see Lewis thrust into the halves above the specialist rookie Graham. While there is no questioning the ability or experience of Lewis; it was believed that the new-look Panthers halves pairing of Sammut and Graham could form a strong combination for the team to build around.
No so according to Elliott; with the coach seeming to prefer a safety first option rather than building for the future.
The pairing of Sammut and Graham had seemingly made good progress in the three trial games so far in 2009, but that link is now forgotten with Lewis in the mix.
While Graham said he was naturally shocked to be left out of the game, he would just have to work harder to get into the top squad. “I just have to cop it on the chin and go back and try to play some good footy and earn my way back into the side,” said Graham.
“There is a lot of competition there. (Elliott) just pulled me in earlier in the week and said I wasn’t in the 17. I have to go and work on my game before I get back in there. Luke is a great player and deserves his spot.”
After finishing High School at the end of last year – this has been the first complete pre-season for teenager Graham. “I was stoked with my preseason. I was pretty shattered when he told me I wasn’t playing but what can you do,” he said.
“I just have to try and play some footy now. You can’t do anything about it, I just have to work my way in. I know there’s always areas you can improve and I will just go back now and do my best and see how I go.”
The decision by Elliott brings back memories of the situation Peter Wallace found himself in at the club, the super talented former Penrith half wasn’t getting the respect he deserved and was soon snapped up by rival club Brisbane Broncos, eventually going on to represent NSW in State of Origin. Lets just hope for Panthers fans the same doesn’t happen to their next big thing waiting in the wings.

LOL you pull a story from 2009 to say he has been available since round 1 in 2010? - farkin spastic.

He missed the first 6 weeks this year due to injury to his leg he sustained in Pre-Season against Parramatta. I'd know...I was there....

He played 2 weeks in Reserve Grade to get fit (again...was there), then played 2 games off the bench and has been starting ever since.

Poor Reefy...doesn't know the whole story yet wants to tell it like its fact.

Wade has a great kicking game. Just isn't consistent at the moment.

My bad. I pasted the wrong article about his Shoulder injury.
Graham injury opens door for Burns
February 23, 2010
Rising Penrith star Wade Graham may have to concede his five-eighth position to Travis Burns in the early rounds, with the talented pivot set to have his shoulder checked out after more problems in early trials.
Still only 19, Graham arrived in the Panthers side nearly 2 years ago and along with Lachlan Coote has proved a handy player, bringing confidence well above his years.
With the arrival of livewire Travis Burns to the Panthers fold in 2010 – the race for the five-eighth spot was always going to be an interesting one.
There is no doubting the ability of Burns. The former Manly and Cowboys no.6 boasts great footwork and plenty of options in attack and despite his smaller size, has impressive defensive technique in the line.
It seems attitude has been the only thing holding Burns back. While most halves come with some cheekiness, Burns brings it in bucketloads and can be guilty of being a hothead at times. Overstepping the mark has cost him penalties in the past and previous teams have been forced to move him along.
But after some hot trial game form, Burns really stamped his mark for Penrith.
Now with Wade Graham facing possible time on the sidelines with shoulder issues, Burns gets first crack at pivot and going on current form, there is little chance the firebrand no.6 will give up his spot easily.

He is the younger brother of former Cronulla player Phil Bailey.

He was the player of the year in the Newcastle local comp in 2007 from memory, and got a run with the Knights on the strength of that.

His best skill is that he has the best long pass in the game - once or twice a game he will throw a bullet like 20 or 25 metre pass that hits the target on the chest. If your coach works that into the set plays it's very useful. No kicking game worth speaking of, but he does score his share of tries when he runs the ball himself.

6. Wade Graham
14. Travis Burns.
