The board didn't think he could change the culture at the club.

The difference is, Kearney's well respected, with a big profile in the game. Anderson was seen by most as a bit of a nomad, without the commanding presence of Kearney.

Basically, Kearney was seen as having a lot more potential than Anderson.

Either that or the board thought they'd be more chance of being voted back in by sacking a good coach and replacing him with a shit one.

So is Ricky stuart.

i dont see whats wrong with 3.Reddy 4 Loko 5.Burt

All we need is a decent winger!

Good back up in Tonga, Atkins, Sio, Morgan, TT etc

Apparently we are letting go of Reddy.

Loko will be out for most of next year.

Burt is getting old.

Same as our last coach. Yet he was shown the door. I don't think anyone here is bagging out our coach Steve Kearney at all, just questioning the club's decision to take a 'one step forward, two step backwards' approach.

And how do you know it's 2 steps backward?

I don't want to go into debates about the board. It's been done and dusted. At the end of the day of a team of businessmen, doctors, lawyers, whatever the board are made up of have never run a football club before and have absolutely so idea what it takes to coach a professional football side.

We should be taking a leaf out of Penrith's book.

Says you. He has a big profile because he was as an assistant coach at Mellbourne during a time they were severely rorting the cap. He was given the NZ had coaching role because of that so called 'success'. He got the job here because of that so called 'success'. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, he's probably a good coach, but fortune fell into his lap.

If its good for 1 its good for the other. That excuse doesn't wash. Next year kearney has had more flexibility in regards to salary cap. If we are not in the top 6 with what he has chosen to buy & develop then he should be treated like any other coach.

Like that knob from pirtek said. We didn't plan on renewing the previous coaches contract so there was no use in keeping him for his final year.

So if history has anything to do with it. If we are not in the 8 by July I expect osbourne to be interviewing other coaches for back up just in case we don't make the 8 just like last year lol

If you saying the club made a mistake once by doing that your quite happy for that same mistake to be made again. It's obvious you have an axe to grind or some political motives

Because we've gone backward from last year not forward. So while moving forward with making the decision to hire a new coach, we've moved backward performance wise because of it.

It wasn't a mistake. It was the right thing to do. So I expect the same for all our coaches in future

All depends if that is your only criteria which i'm sure it isn't for every club.

Because the board told us they will not accept failure so if we dont make the 8 its time to go and offer bellamy everything we can

If we don't make the 8 next year we better have had a lot of injuries.

Otherwise I agree. I think next year's squad should be good enough to make the 8. Maybe even top 4 with no injuries and Sandow gelling quickly.

U are now on record. No 8 next year I expect you to sign a petition for a new coach. Bellamy is the man

Signing O'Sullivan from Melbourne has worked wonders for Roosters hasn't it????

He is highly overrated. Anyone could look as good as he did for the Storm with a bottomless pit to sign players & a thousand people he named as scouts by throwing them a shirt and hat.

totally disagree, while we don't have the points to show it, we have definitely improved on last year. Each game last year we didn't know which eels side would show up, now while we aren't just there yet, the side is starting to be competitive in each game we play. You can see there are structures being put in place. But the big thing to remember and not forget last year we had:

- a fit poore
- Grothe
- Tahu
- Keating
- Inu
- Mateo

and what have we replaced them with ? yeah but that is Kearney fault because he did not seek replacements before he was even signed as the eels coach. You are seriously not looking at the whole picture. You cannot compare apples with oranges.

Put those 6 players into our current eels side, then you can compare if Kearney has improved the side.
