The Brisbane Broncos will now turn its attention to signing Jharal Yow Yeh, Gerard Beale and Alex Glenn to long-term deals after securing extensions for prop Josh McGuire and fullback Josh Hoffman yesterday.
The pair have committed for a further three years — tying them to the club until the end of 2015. Both Hoffman and McGuire will initially be on deals of about $250,000 a year.
That figure will rise to more than $300,000, boosted by third-party deals, representative incentives and expected increases in the salary cap post-2013 as new broadcast money flows in.
McGuire was named in the Kangaroos train-on squad last month and Hoffman would have been in the New Zealand team for the Four Nations if he hadn’t damaged ligaments in his right knee in round 26.
“It is a reward for them for how they’ve developed over the last couple of seasons in particular,” said Broncos coach Anthony Griffin yesterday.
The next priorities are Yow Yeh, 21, Beale, 21, and Glenn, 23, who are all away on Four Nations duties with the Kangaroos and Kiwis.
Football manager Andrew Gee said negotiations had begun a couple of months ago with the trio.

Does anyone else think 250k is overs at present? 300k when cap goes up too...

that gavit is done deal with dogs from warriors nsw cup prop of the year, whoever mentioned him other day.

He's signing up tomorrow (Mon) just in time for first training session. New Warriors coach figures he's a prop who would struggle to get game time ahead of incumbent frontrowers Packer, Matulino, Rapira and Lillyman.

More suited to secondrower even after an excellent NSW Cup campaign this year!

Bulldogs getting a good buy in Gavet.

Thanks for your info, i don't know how he will get a run for us without a few injuries in props either with graham tolman kasiano ahead for sure and then blokes like eastwood taupau who can play prop and will be on the bench if fit.

Perhaps to help add some depth to replace hodgson, paea, armit etc.

Gavet i knew, little mad dog is a random one! i think its a good signing for our wing spot. certainly as good as wright or lett i think.
we tried to get him when he was at nulla, but he knocked us back
has potential and could come in real handy in wing/centre spot which we need some quality there and someone that can catch a high ball...

From what i rmemeber he was quick as hell and pretty damn good too! Wasn't he at bunnies then storm?

He will have to be a top contender for the wing with goodwin/wright/lett.

Lafai will most likely take the other centre spot based on what he showed last year. Was pretty damn good. Couple man of the matches in his first 6-7 games?

I hope he is with us Richie. He deserved an upgrade.

dont know about upgrade but good for back up
we really need a deceant winger or 2 that's got speed and a step and is good under the high ball

by the way whats the go with ya website?
checked it several times and its still down...
hopefully be back up next year or sooner
any news on lower grades?
I know burr and carte are around for 2012 which is awesome
you know if toupou is around he looked quite good in his first nyc year
cheers

Yeh i doubt Lett will be getting a upgrade of any degree, we were about to let him go and no club pushed hard at him obviously. Would be re-signed as depth but in all honesty other then Turner the other wing spot is wide open. No real genuine winger demanding selection. Though now Luke McDougal is signed at least there is some good contests between him Lett, Wright (wing or centre if Lafai doesn't play like this year) and also Goodwin if he can ever re-find that 2009 form although that looks less and less likely each year. I'd love a Uate type winger, don't know if Bill Tupou is still off contract but we should of had a real go at him!

turner is crap under the high ball
but good at everthing else same as barba but he is in his first year at fullback so I guess give him time and his confidence will grow
the only winger we have who is good under the high ball is goodwin ,but he is slow for a winger
bill tupou is a young potential good player but reads defence quite average...
we need to buy the best 20's 21yo winger for 2012/13 as we dont have anyone good enough coming through the grades!!! in wing plenty of forwards in the next year or 3 if we can keep em
cater, burr, jacko, dales ok sopou topou is he is still around in 2012 klemmer marty sam etc
we just need quality wingers and a 5/8
bugger, sezer going maybe langi might? step up in a 2/3 years???
or j.guston

we will make a big play at a 5/8 be it foran or maloney who know's but you can bet we will be chasing them hard and i will be shocked if we don't land one now with Des and plenty of coin.

i got no doubt we will be chasing a winger of quality somewhere too. i dont think a uate/vatuvei/lote type winger i see us with another solid winger like turner. turner isn't really bad under the high ball mate he is pretty safe really its just he is so short he gets out jumped a fair bit by the big boys. he never really makes a meal of it. barba had a few games where he was a nightmare but again he was pretty good before and after those games with the bombs and as u said sometimes as a kid in first grade in his first year back there if his confidence is shot he was bound to do it. however i think over time he will adjust and place himself better for the kicks and be better for it, he will still always have the height problem, he can't get up there like slater either sadly however i still think he will be a great fullback for many years to come.

as you said with jack, taupau, kasiano, finc etc we got some great forwards coming through. just lack a quality winger. who knows luke mcdougal might do the job for a couple years, maybe lett will learn to use something other then speed, maybe goodwin will refine his ability or maybe wright might learn to catch a bloody ball from a kick or pass. if not then we need a quality winger BADLY lol.
