 well I can't speak on the behalf of JJ. You do seem to crank out a good amount of differing ones though. Just a casual enthusiast huh?

Ahhhh well of course that was never my point, but when you need 20 to become the first player to score 400 ina test match, against Zimbabwae with the field spread and you hole out int he deep you have blown a great opportunity.
He already had the world record so who cares? He blew a chance for 500 as well! what a choke!

The record is there for Clarke. That's if he doesn't choke on 380
Well if he gets through tomorrow at the same rate he will be 455. It doesn't matter anyhow, even if he gets out clean bowled first day tomorrow he already has played a majestic innings.

I'm never going to a game of cricket again. How can you top that? 200 runs in a day from a legend.

Cmon you actually beleive that? I could understand if he was on 330 or 340 but the guy was on 380 and you're telling me he didn't care about trying to be the first player evr to score 400 in a test match? So when Lara got to 381 he didn't care about getting to 400? sure.

I'm 99% sure that with the recent overhaul with the leadership in Australian cricket (Argus review), we won't faux pas in the way that we did 12 months ago. We cannot afford to repeat point 1) next year when we play back-to-back Ashes series.

Good post.

The argus review has served it purpose in ending the vicious cycle of negligence and blame games that the past administration thrived upon. Mickey arthur's appointment was an astute move and hopefully under his guidance the team can establish a system that values consistency and continuity.

It's a joke how little test cricket teams play in this era of instant gratification cricket. We've got a 3 test tour of the Windies on the horizon followed by a long break until hosting the proteas late in the year. These two series will be vital in the enacting of a succession plan that will hopefully deliver a stable and battle-hardened XII ready to reclaim the Ashes.

Judging by this summer's cricket the bowling stocks look abundant, it'll just be a matter of picking a well-balanced attack who are allowed time to gel together as a unit. The batting outlook looks a bit more grim. The fact that its the veterans in the line-up who are repeatedly carrying the can is a worrying sign...what happens when these guys are 'suceeded'? Hopefully the Marshs/Warners/Cowans are given ample opportunity to prove their worth. If it doesn't work out, look at the SS averages and pick from the top...no more of this 'golden child' selection policy bs.

Well depends if they holed out in the outfield to a nuffy spinner. If Lara had holed out on 390 in his second crack at it I would defitniley say he choked.

How was the crowd??? Glad the crowd didn't boo Clarkey like last year.

My section of the crowd was rowdy as f**k. They were particularly riding Ponting while he was in the 90s. Madse sure they appluaded Sharma when he got his century as well.

It is also of no surprise that our dominant bowling is off the back of not having someone who bowls loose deliveries every over. Not surprising Siddle and Hilfenhaus are bowling better without Johnson taking the pressure off.

That was something I wrote about last year, and came under a lot of criticism from the pro-Johnsonites. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the same. Hilfenhaus and Siddle's consistency and pressure that they built up was completely negated by all the loose deliveries Johnson bowled.

Do you think the reason why he holed out in the deep was because he was happy and was just trying to get as many as he could? If Lara got out for 381 it wouldn't be a choke it would have been a world record. Fair dinkum no wonder why your side sucks at cricket.

Just because someone cares doesn't mean it is a choke. If I got 500k in lotto but wanted a million is that a choke?

It is simple cricket logic. England obviously thought to see off the consistent ones and attack our ordinary spinner and Johnson. It is tough when half your bowling attack can't bowl well consistently, sounds a bit like the Indian bowling attack. I remember Hilfy bowling tirelessly over after over with no reward, he ended up with what? 3 wickets all series? I still blame Johnson no surprise our only winning test was when he decided to turn up.
