I'm 99% sure that with the recent overhaul with the leadership in Australian cricket (Argus review), we won't faux pas in the way that we did 12 months ago. We cannot afford to repeat point 1) next year when we play back-to-back Ashes series.
Good post.
The argus review has served it purpose in ending the vicious cycle of negligence and blame games that the past administration thrived upon. Mickey arthur's appointment was an astute move and hopefully under his guidance the team can establish a system that values consistency and continuity.
It's a joke how little test cricket teams play in this era of instant gratification cricket. We've got a 3 test tour of the Windies on the horizon followed by a long break until hosting the proteas late in the year. These two series will be vital in the enacting of a succession plan that will hopefully deliver a stable and battle-hardened XII ready to reclaim the Ashes.
Judging by this summer's cricket the bowling stocks look abundant, it'll just be a matter of picking a well-balanced attack who are allowed time to gel together as a unit. The batting outlook looks a bit more grim. The fact that its the veterans in the line-up who are repeatedly carrying the can is a worrying sign...what happens when these guys are 'suceeded'? Hopefully the Marshs/Warners/Cowans are given ample opportunity to prove their worth. If it doesn't work out, look at the SS averages and pick from the top...no more of this 'golden child' selection policy bs.
