I dont think its racist tbh.. I just think its the typical Aussie media using dated stereotypes of how the Warriors played in the early 2000s. Its just shit journalism, thats all.

Blocker on the game plan tonight: "the warriors are guilty of playing too much jingle ball!" FMD!

The Warriors have been playing too much jungle ball. Sigh. Wouldn't happen to be that our defence is the second-worst in the competition.

I blame our huge, always tired forward pack. Brian McLellan and Shaun Johnsten need to steer this team away from Ivan Cleary's crazy unstructured jungle ball style of footy.

Remember when Fatty Vautin said the Warriors hold the ball like gorillas? And that they're always doing "these ones" *mock throws a pass behind his head*.

F*ck Vautin is a douche. He highly annoys me when he uses the term "these ones".
If you ever see Fatty you should do these ones :fist:

I have heard it twice - and both times regarding the Warriors - i am a pretty affable person but if i was in the media I wouldn't be saying that

problem is one commentator says it then they all repeat it - eg. "massive human" etc

We all know Polynesians are primitive people who can't read or understand english, so it's not like it's going to offend anyone.

Unfortunately these days people go looking for things to get offended by so they can have their little moment of outrage and claim some sort of moral higher ground, even if they take offense on behalf of someone else (who may or may not be offended themselves).

It may not have been the most appropriate comment but it's hardly something to get annoyed about, especially when there is nothing to suggest the comment was intended in an offensive manner.

Won't somebody think of the children!!

What is it to be called in the PC age?

Expansive? - Insulting to fat erhh, sorry, weight challenged types.

care free? - Nup. Insulting to dole bludgers.

High Risk? - I can see insurance salesmen blowing up.

Lets go for, football, that would formerly have been referred to as having been played in a non-descript wooded area that may or may not have had sufficient precipitation to be a rain forest, but which would have been now called deforesetd football due to mankinds farming and also due to global warming.

Too long. Lets just call it Harlem Globetrotters style. I hope the white people don't get offended by that.

Lets just stick with Topball as a generic reference.

f**k me.
Ummm let me guess, white middle aged males?
Yep perfect to decide what is and isn't 'pc'

It's just woefully misguided and I'm amazed that Kimmorley could be so oblivious to the offense the term could potentially cause. It's one thing to think it (and clearly a lot of people do) but it's entirely another to announce it on international television.
Yep agreed.

So just to clear it up. Term is derived from US street basketball but we're going to be offended and make out like we're being called monkeys?

Gotcha.

Do you really think any of the commentators know anything about street basketball ? To be honest I don't think they are racist but I can see how the term may be offensive to some.

Why shouldn't they know of it?

Did you know of the term and its origins prior to this thread?
