Apart from Creagh which most people on here are puzzled by, what would you have done different?
It's not neccaserily who was or wasn't picked (Creagh and Buhrer:lol

It's not neccaserily who was or wasn't picked (Creagh and Buhrer:lolbut the fact that NSW just can't match the talent of QLD. When Mitchell Pearce is your undoubted halfback I think you're in trouble. I think QLD could run over the top of that forward pack and carve that backline to pieces personally. And I'm completley neutral because I couldn't care less who wins.
Very much agree with this. Most importantly:
1. Stewart
6. Carney
7. Pearce
9. Farah
is a hell of a lot better than
1. Minichello
6. Soward
7. Pearce
9. Ennis
If there was another prop on the bench instead of Creagh I'd be happier with the team. I don't know what Rickys fascination is with attacking backrowers and stacking the team with them and only picking two specialist front rowers.
Meanwhile Queensland continually has at least 4 props in their squad.
Brett Stewart
Jarryd Hayne
Michael Jennings
Josh Morris
Akuila Uate
Todd Carney
Mitchell Pearce
Paul Gallen
Robbie Farah
James Tamou
Luke Lewis
Greg Bird
Glenn Stewart
Jamie Buhrer
Ben Creagh
Tony Williams
Trent Merrin
17 man team named sorry.
Creah for Watmough. The side I would have picked?
Stewart
Uate
Jennings
Lyon (if he came out of retirement)
Wolfman
Carney
Pearce
Kite
Farah
King
Watmough
Gallen
Stewart
Buhrer
Rose
Tamou
T-Rex
A few issues with that side.
Creagh over Watmough is an absolute travesty. Creagh is bloody average IMO, never impressed at Origin level. Watmough has been a stand out in recent performances, and was selected for the ANZAC Test side too.
I don't have an issue with Merrin being picked over Tariq Sims as he is a genuine prop (more on this in the next point), but surely there are other better props going around than him. Tim Mannah, Tim Grant, Aaron Woods, Keith Galloway, Bryce Gibbs, Kade Snowden, Luke Douglas, Aiden Tolman, Michael Weyman, Tom Learoyd-Lahrs?
As for the aforementioned Tariq Sims, he was competing with T-Rex for that bench spot. Although Williams is a devastating player, he has little form due to suspension, while Sims to me is the second coming of Gordon Tallis. Surprised that he didn't warrant selection.
Finally - Hinchcliffe IMO is a superior utility to Buhrer. I don't think Buhrer is bad, don't get me wrong, but surely more proven performers like Hinchy, Aubusson, Graham, Mateo, etc would have warranted selection with a little bit more conviction.
Shouldnt be, International football should be the peak of our game, but unfortunately Origin is marketed and rewarded as our peak. But that's a whole different debate
