I think there are too many teams in Sydney, but I can't see the NRL dumping the Sharks from the comp, and I'd disappointed as a fan if they did. That said, they'll not lend as big a hand to the club to prop it up (if needed) as some may like.

It is an opportunity to drop the weakest Sydney team without any real come back. Cronulla got themselves into this position because of their parlous financial state. The NRL can step back and say it wasn't their fault. Why try and merge two teams in five years when they can do it hassle free and expand into new markets?

It will save much pain in the long run. I honestly don't think it is the NRL's interests to bail them out.

I don't think things will wrap up that quickly. I think Cronulla will likely go around one more season.

Hopefully they get a two year ban prior to the end of the season for systematic doping. I would be happy to see the Sharks relocated though. If they get the ban (as Essendon should) then they won't survive in any form.
