As the war drew to a close all the combatants converged, each one with an eye on the other as redirects, bus drivers and general blood lust confused the hell out of everyone.

Years ago Gambit had lost Rogue to his best friend Magneto. Having watched them both die on the battlefield suddenly his sulking over the girl routine didn't seem so important.
He charged a card without hesitation, he was yet to hit his target, but this one he had no doubt about. It couldn't be anyone else.
He aimed and fired his energy charged card, his eyes widening when he saw the confused energised youngster staring back at him, the card rocketing towards him. A gleam of light, a metallic body shifted in front of him to absorb the full blast.
Forge fell into his arms, but it was too late to save him. he had watched over Nate from the start, and now he was gone.
Forge is dead, he was Forge, town aligned metal man.

The fiery red head had played her part, even after the loss of her one true love Weapon X.
At least her one true love in this reality. She saw him across the battlefield, the one eyed man. Another time, another place, things may have been different. On this occasion, his eye was faster than her mind.
