    2025 Crowd Watch

Yeh Victorians love their G and I could see it drawing a record crowd for the Storm with the novelty factor. Early enough in the season the ones there for the novelty might be tempted to try a game or 2 at AAMI afterwards hopefully.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

With 9 games at 3 hours each they’d have to be playing at some whacky times to make it all fit. NRL is in a good position in that regard, even if/when it gets to 10 games they could still fit it in without overlaps and having to use a different stadium.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Yes, but as the NRL/Storm are making an attempt at cashing in while the AFL teams are away I wouldn’t be expecting the AFL to be overly accommodating, nor would I expect the NRL to offer a great deal if the roles were reversed. I’m sure the AFL aren’t overly worried about the Storm & NRL in...

    2025 Crowd Watch

A couple days in advance too, Warriors are always a big draw but this is a new high for a regular season game that isn’t Anzac Day. The MCG/Marvel idea while Gather round is on might have some legs if they think they can convert this demand in to a 40-50k crowd.

    The grand plan

19.1k against a low drawing Sydney team on a Thursday isn’t bad by any stretch. Broncos were getting 20-22k crowds in similar circumstances not that long ago.

    2025 Crowd Watch

For context that’s not too far off some Thursday night crowds Broncos were getting in the last decade. For example: Broncos Vs Panthers 2021: 21,224 Broncos Vs Panthers 2017: 21,464 Both Thursday night games.

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

I missed that on first read, hardly the best selling point for upgrades if they’re not committing to more NRL games. Should be most of their games out there (8-9) with a couple big games at Allianz and/or Accor (Easter Monday) and a couple games a year at Leichhardt inc trial. That would be a...

    WA BEARS

I’m hoping, with absolutely nothing to back it up, that the stadium has been put on the back burner as there are plans for federal funding to come if Labour win next month. Cook hinted at it in the media recently, these little quotes don’t tend to come from nowhere. The “can’t upgrade until...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Seems they want it to be their main home ground, saying they will commit to 7-9 games there per year if they get upgrades. From 18k capacity up to 25k for $100m for two tenants seem like a pretty good numbers compared to some other stadium spends, assuming that’s realistic.

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Yeh wouldn’t be surprised to see it get a large crowd if they put some promotion behind it. Marvel would be a better fit crowd wise and is better for rectangular sports, just wonder if the AFL would let it happen whilst all their clubs are out of town. Might have better luck working with Vic...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Shane Richardson admits the Wests Tigers could leave one of their spiritual homes of Campbelltown Stadium, unless an upgrade is green-lit soon. One of multiple home grounds used by the joint venture club, there are fears it could fall by the wayside due to it not being "fit-for-purpose"...

    Peter V'landys - New NRL/ARLC Chairman

Marvel would be better but the AFL owning it probably complicates that idea. The 2 Marvel games a couple years ago got more than those games normally would at AAMI surprisingly. Nothing wrong with giving it a go either way.

    2025 Crowd Watch

Yehp depends how you want to break it down, those are just the total stats. That bulldogs 2012 year they got ~32k for those out of state games Vs Titans & Storm, probably not far off what they would have got in Sydney. That Roosters average last year included 40k+ for Vegas plus Central Coast...

Unless Albanese swoops in last minute with federal funding for HBF Park upgrades this looks like it will end in disappointment.
