After watching the boys run around yesterday, it's good to see that we have exactly the same weak pea hearted mental strength in our juniors too. I suppose though that that's where it all starts from of course.

We have way to many islanders in our team. We are so bad that we did a Warrior style capitulation against the freakin Warriors!

When will we learn.

i really like the look of josh aloiai. Looks really tough with a huge motor, enough mobility to play on the edges with enough toughness to compete up the middle. He's got a smart offload and looks like a real competitor, looks like NRL material.

This kid looks the good he played really well yesterday can see him jumping up to NSW cup next year and NRL the year after..

He will be better than Edwards and Maú.

Too many islanders. Please - what a cop out.
How do you think they got there.

There tall, quick and strong outside backs were good all year.

The arrogant standoff who was complete shite wasn;t Polynesian.
Probably the reason they went so crap - and was their captain.

Alioai was a beast, Tanginoa went alright.
Zak Dockar-Clay was class.

All Polyneisnan.

ZDC can't catch a kick off and its not because he's ploynesian, it's because he's shit.

He was miles better than that big number 6 - who had NSW cup experienc
Got smashed and come up with nothing the whole game.

I still rate ZDC and think he can be up with RTS, DWZ, JWH playing for the Kiwis.

I watched a handful of our Under 20s games this year and I don't think I have seen a player in a long time like ZDC, who can do so many good things, but then do so many ordinary things. He's a bit Sandow like in some respects.

I see potential, but he really still has a great deal to learn

I'd be shocked if ZDC ever plays for NZ whilst Foran and Johnson are around.

Matterson's our best player after Tanginoa. He's been awesome all year and was good yesterday. He kicked well and put a couple of guys through gaps. Also defended well.

Goodall was the biggest disappointment yesterday. In fact he's been shit ever since he moved to centre. He was uninvolved in attack again, and he defended poorly.

Except for putting Tanginoa over for what looked to be at the time the match winning try. Or cutting the Warriors open from 30m out and nearly scoring a great individual try. Or taking the senior role between the two halves in later stages of the game and executing several excellent kicks to complete sets.

These good points are balanced by a number of a errors mind you including dropping the ball cold from ZDC's pass and losing the ball when he was blind-sided by one of your forwards but to say that ZDC was miles better, when he was solely responsible for letting two kickoffs result in line drop outs as well as some sloppy ball work throughout the game is simply stupid.

While I don't like seeing Ram roll out his anti-Polynesian spiel, neither do I see much use in you storming in here and trying to retort with a terrible comparison loaded with the suggestion that our Polynesian players are better than our Caucasian players.

Just goes to show how key injuries at the wrong time of year can derail a finals campaign.

Moeroa
Pritchard
Pauli

All unavailable. Once Tanginoa went off injured our forwards just couldn't contain the huge Warriors pack.

Hopefully we have better luck next year.

Do we really need to be successful and winning Under 20's competition for it to correlate into later success in the NRL?

Yes I think we need to be making the finals of the Under 20s competition each year, because we need to know that the players we are developing are heading in the right direction, but is actually going on to win it that important?

Look at the Warriors, they have been grand finalists in the Under 20s four of the last five years, yet they still remain a mid table side in the NRL. The Tigers and the Raiders have made the GF twice in the seven years of the existence of the NYC, but again, this has not necessarily carried on and made them anything more than a mid table side. Souths made the Under 20s GF in 2010, but only one player from that team remains part of the first grade team at Souths now (Adam Reynolds). The 2008 Under 20s Grand Finalists, the Raiders and the Broncos, have a large portion of their current NRL teams come from this match. But neither team has ever been regarded as a premiership threat within the seven years since.

I'd rather us recruit, develop and retain the right players to be able to take us to an NRL Premiership than to ever both winning an Under 20s competition.

No of course not.

The only NYC winners that have translated to NRL premiership success were the 2009 premiers (Melbourne Storm) and the '09 minor premiers (Manly).

However the 2010 minor premiers (Souths) and the 2012 minor premiers (Canterbury) are facing off in next weekend's NRL decider.

You could say that NYC minor premierships are a better predictor of NRL success. I have always maintained that minor premierships are a better indicator of a team's quality, and therefore finishing highly on the ladder is a better indicator than winning NYC finals matches,
