The Roosters have won 2 premierships and been in 6 Grand Finals in the last 15 years. They have also been regular finalists, who very rarely miss the finals 2 years in a row during the period. And they have manage to do this without a junior competition and a minimal amount of supporters.

Parramatta on the other hand haven't won so much as a chook raffle for 28 years with one of the biggest supporter bases and junior leagues in the country. If Souths win the comp next week, we will then become the team with the longest period since winning their last premiership (excluding those Clubs that have yet to win one).

Now I don't know about you, but the records seem to show that they have done far better than what we have. So I would say we could learn a thing or two from them.

But if your happy for us to continue to do what we have done for the last 28 years then that's you. I'm not

That is some incredible stats ..

But what can we learn?

That is some incredible stats ..

But what can we learn?

From the last 15 seasons on the performances of the Roosters alone we could learn how to win Premierships, how to play in the Grand Final on average better than 1 in every 3 seasons and how to make the finals on average 2 out of every 3 years.

I'm actually sure that there is so much we could learn from the Roosters. I'm also pretty sure there are things that the Roosters could learn from Parra. But as a Club we have appeared too dumb to learn from successful organisations because we're happy with mediocrity.

Anyone who doesn't think that you can learn from people and organisations that are more successful than you are deadset kidding themselves.

First get the boss of channel 9 in running the club...

Well if that's what's needed to be done to be successful then so be it.

Being successful is about living, eating and breathing an attitude of "Whatever it takes". I'm guessing this mantra is something that is spoken about at the Roosters quite often. I'm thinking the expression has never even been a thought bubble at Parra.

Another philosophy that the Parra team needs to comprehend is "Attention to Detail". Our lack of attention to detail in even the most basic areas is what has been holding us back for far too long.

For far too long we have accepted mediocrity and taken the "there's always next year approach". That's been our real issue, which is all related to club culture.

I'm a big Josh Aloiai fan. Hope he kicks on.

Me too. The 6, 11 & 13 impressed me and should have a careers in the NRL.

I'm not sold on the rest. Matterson, Aloiai and Markus have the skill, size and merkin to make it though.

Gee there are some hard markers in this thread. The NYC team have been worse than the NRL side and you have to go all the way back to 2008 to find a decent finish.

This year we were a win away from the GF. Pretty good turn around if you ask me.

I think it's easy to say 'let's not tolerate mediocrity'.....it's a no brainer. What is difficult is recognising when you are genuinely improving from a crap base and sticking with it for a while. That is a tougher call, and one that requires a bit of nerve and the stability at an organizational level (which we've had a bit of trouble with).

I agree Barry. Whilst it was a very disappointing end to a great comeback, this season is an excellent way for the club to draw a line in the sand and declare that that is the standard we aspire to.

I thought Davis, Matterson, Fuiamano(sp) and Aloiai were very good, as well as the wingers. ZDC I don't think will make it in NRL.

I'd say it's a bit too soon to rule out ZDC. You'd have to give him a couple of years in NSW Cup and see how he continues to develop. But at this stage, he'd hardly challenge Sandow for the 7.

Don't forget Dockar-Clay doesn't even turn 20 until next year. By comparison, James Maloney had only played two NRL games by his 23rd birthday, and 16 games by the time he turned 24.

*Edit* Massive brain fart there, somehow didn't see Poupou's post!

Congratulations to the five selected in the train-on squad, hopefully most of them make it through to the actual team.

Kaysa and Pauli were already picked for the Samoan train-on squad. If they choose to represent the Junior Roos I think all of them are a chance of making the final squad, Matterson is the one with the biggest doubt though.
