With corey allen playing FB AJ will go back to wing why spend 300odd to resign jennings
Corey Allen is a work in progress. His stats are quite similar to AJ in the QLD Intrust Cup this past year. He’s gonna get ragdolled by our opponents initially as he’s not that big and defensively he struggles like AJ does. Allen won’t be the magic fix at fullback the kid is still young and raw.

Letting Jennings go would be idiotic. Jennings does most of the shit work coming out of trouble similar to what Bryson did. Jennings is a very good finisher with pace too.

That’s probably the area we would miss Jennings most.... the shit work.
Yes he scored a lot of tries and is a good finisher but that’s what first grade wingers should be.... good finishers.

Yeah

Average NRL wingers don’t score that many tries, average wingers don’t score some of the tries he bagged, it was only really his first full year in first grade, you don’t go throwing him away, he’s got another 6 or 7 years of getting better & better

Correct bro and I can’t fault his efforts coming out of our own end. He really rolls his sleeve up and his ball security was overall very good this last season.

I admit I was a bit iffy on Jennings but he really grew this year and matured so to speak. Now for him to keep working hard and getting better.

From what I heard too he always one of the hardest workers at training too.

That try against the Cowboys in pouring rain at Cairns was very special. Cookie got him one on one with Feldt and Jennings with his footwork and strength got over the line.

A couple of his tries chasing grubbers were very good too. Not all winger get to those.

With Hiroti I’ve been reading other social media and the consensus seems to be he needs to bulk up and cut the errors out of his game. He didn’t go so well in the U20’s test match for NZ. He played wing and only made 8 for 55m.

Agree hiroti isn't ready and he is small
Seems as if we are trying to rearrange the roster i would be playing corey at centre for a while to acclimatise him,GI on the big bucks should slot back to FB

I like Jennings and wouldn’t want to lose him.
But we can’t get caught in a bidding war for a winger. Hes no Val Holmes or Ado- Carr who can turn nothing into something .
You end up with cap drama by doing that.

We can always push Gags to the wing and Doueihi to the centres.

Cookie is 100% worth $800k and he certainly deserves his upgrade that's for sure! He's an integral part of our future and Souths need to make it happen. It's really good to hear that Cookie wants to stay though, that's great news.

How can the Roosters possibly afford to buy one of our wingers?!! That's BS!! I really hope that's not true and if it is true, gee I hope it ain't Jennings. Rob has been amazing for us this year and he'd be a huge loss.

Roosters have Tupou , Hall , Morris for the wing next year.
That’s a lot of competiton for spots.
Then there’s 2 gun centres so how much first grade would he be playing?

Just thought I might add it’s been great to hear everyone’s opinions throughout today.
We’ve not all agreed but I think everyone has been able to put their opinion in without being treated disrespectfully.

You wouldn’t want to pay too much more than 325k for Jennings.

I think 325k is fair.

Correct in that Gags best position is wing.

But our depth already isn’t really strong in the backs imo.

Douiehi probs misses the first 8-10 rounds too.

Personally if Corey Allen works out I'd be punting Johnston I think we have better and stronger wingers in the club, Johnston is a finisher that's it nothing else, he can't do the shit work of a Jennings, Campbell or kennar

There are a lot of hard arsed recruitment & retention specialists here who talk of punting him & getting rid of another etc without considering the emotional toll & harmony of the squad & without thinking of the players “ upside” & the fact Seibold has only had one season with blokes that have already improved, I know it’s a professional sport & sentiment is limited but there’s a balance
