Charity Shield back in Mudgee: https://www.rabbitohs.com.au/news/2018/10/19/charity-shield-back-in-mudgee/

I really like the idea of playing this game in Mudgee and I can see it becoming a regular thing.
It’s a good initiative, but i get a bit selfish on this one. Charity Sheild was my family’s official start to the season tradition. Mudgee makes that hard. Now it they brought back the return to Redfern trial to start the year, I could get over it:joy: RTR would be great this year with the introduction of NSWCup side and all.

Absolutely it was included in our membership too and still is but it seems so hard to get to Mudgee.

I see why they take it there though.

We aren’t playing in Perth next year are we? Or was it Cairns? I know it’s one of the two but can’t remember.

Also I’d be happy if Furner was to be our head coach.

I’ve heard from a source Bennett to Souths is also quite a fair chance of happening. I bloody well hope not.

I agree with you in regards to our second row but honestly, I haven't decide on who I want to slot into that left edge spot out of Sam, Murray and Britt yet. To be honest, I'm not quite looking to 2019 just yet as I still haven't done my 2018 review which I hope to do tomorrow.

Yes, Sutto will be re-signed and rightly so, it'll be good for us to know that this is 100% his final season so we can prepare all year for a great send off. I didn't know that GI is now eligible for the long service cap discount now but I assume that wouldn't be allowed to come into effect until his next contract?

Very interesting indeed! I still really hope that it doesn't come to that and I hope he re-signs. I've heard whispers that Seibs wants to re-sign and the players want him but there is just an issue with the length of the contract and Seibs wants a longer term deal. Whether there's truth to that or not I don't know.

At least if Seibs does leave, we know the club has a plan that they are happy with and that fills me with confidence.

Now that is simply not true! We don't get angry about arguments, arguments are what creates discussion. We just get angry with the bickering and the fact that some people just don't seem to be able to disagree in a civil manner.

We're just trying to do what's best for the whole forum.
You mean right edge bro? Sutto if he stays which I think he will one more year keeps that left edge back row spot. I honestly can see Sam moving to that right edge.

If he just wants a longer deal than give it to him.
What’s a contract worth these days anyway.

Next year the Football Department cap comes into play. Under the rules from 2019 any coaching contract terminated early still carries over against the cap until its contracted end date. Even though it’s still theoretically easy to get rid of a coach early, it’s really going to hurt your bargaining power with new coaches.

Very glad that you’re not managing Souths roster. 800k is well worth it for the current Australian hooker. Playing 25 rounds+ SOO+finals is bound to tire a player out that played off the bench last year.
Spot on. Plus $800k is the price his management wants, it’s the first card in the haggling process. If he is super keen to stay I’d say the final figure will be lower.

Correction....800k is what the Daily Telegraph reckons is the amount that his manager is after, so basically it could be actually anywhere from 500 to a million

He isnt worth 800k he can find another club, his last few games were garbage and his aussie debut was substandard.
Goodbye
Of course his management are gonna go for such a high figure. It won’t be quite that high.

I think you’ll find we will be looking to give him a $2.8mil dollar deal which is 700k a season. 3mil at best which is 750k a season.

Of course he hasn’t been as good lately as he’s bound to be exhausted...

Letting Cookie would be complete and utter stupidity!!

Sorry Handyman but I completely disagree on this one.

If we have to pay him 750k then that’s what we have to do.

What we should be saying is Sam Burgess isn’t worth 1.1million a year as imo he isn’t. He’s worth 900k a season but that’s just what I think. Others may think Sam is worth every penny......

Your prob right rabs i think his worth 650 to 700 max but u always ask for more, he isn't as good as smith, his problem i feel is consistency, and as you've noticed he isn't running as much

I think he’s right not to run as much, there’s no point skooting from dummy half just for the sake of it, other teams obviously have worked him out, it’s all about just picking the time & place & making sure when you do it, it’s effective, at present in the internationals, the Australian pack aren’t really rolling over the advantage line like Souths often do in the NRL, it makes him have to change his game, I think it’s good, I think he has to develop a more Cameron Smith like game as well as have the running game

Glad you’re on the ball too.

I think he’s starting to show a real maturity in his game.

Their top 2 wingers would be Tupou and Ryan Hall so not sure why an established First grade winger would go there .
Maybe they just have a deep desire still play for the bears!
