This should probably be saved as a world anthem, but I think everyone regardless of colour, race, sexual preference or religion can relate to it.

How about the Aussie version of "I've been every where"

Well, I was humpin’ my bluey
on the dusty Oodnadatta road
When along came a semi with a
high and canvas-covered load
“If you’re goin’ to Oodnadatta,
mate, um, with me you can ride.”
So I climbed in the cabin
and I settled down inside
He asked me if I’d seen a road
with so much dust and sand,
I said “Listen, mate, I’ve travelled
ev’ry road in this here land.”

Cos “I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
‘Cross the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been ev’rywhere

I've been to
Tullamore, Seymour, Lismore, Mooloolaba
Nambour, Maroochydore
Kilmore, Murwillumbah
Birdsville, Emmaville
Wallaville, Cunnamulla
Condamine, Strathpine
Proserpine, Ulladulla
Darwin, Gin Gin, Deniliquin, Muckadilla
Wallumbilla, Boggabilla, Kumbarilla
I’m a killer

“I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man

I don't care if they sing or not tbh I can understand their stance, I don't think they need to use their origin selections as a way to push this agenda though, its taking away from it now.

The reason they're doing it now is because noone would pay attention to it otherwise.

There does seem to be a large number of people whose position is 'I'm cool with the protest, but can't they just protest when people aren't watching'.

They could protest on their own time and garner plenty of attention if they really cared that much.

If no one is paying attention its because its a non issue for them. If these blokes want to effect any change not singing isn't going to get it done. Maybe they should work with the NRL which as an organisation has been very, very supportive of our indigineous rather than taking away from one of the games biggest nights of they year.

What are they “taking away”?

When I was younger and watching Origin or International matches, my siblings and I would count who many players were actually singing the respective anthems because the team with the most would win (stupid superstitious belief, I know).

A lot of times, half the team would not be singing, and sometimes more. Let's not get caught up in this patriotic nonsense. I support these players making their choice, and being vocal about the reasons for it.

As for the argument that they are taking away from the game - how? People still will watch and enjoy the game. The bigger issue is the lack of ticket sales due to price hikes (although I was always told QLDers has passion).

Exactly. JT and Thaiday have a presence on Ch9. Hodges etc on Fox. No reason they can't get the players together and do an advertising blitz or something in pre or post game coverage on the footy. Many other ways to get the world out

It really amazes me how people can’t see how singing this anthem is offensive to indigenous people.
Why should they sing it?

The song should be pissed off all together.
It’s shit.
I can still remember having to sing god save the queen at school.
So it’s not like it’s too late for advance Australia fair to be be pissed off.

It’s madness that the indigenous culture isn’t totally embraced and saved.
If anything white people should be singing an indigenous anthem.

What’s the NRL going to do about the anthem?

The whole point is to attract attention, and they’ve done that. They haven’t taken anything away from origin because they’re not obligated to sing

My concern though is the extra attention for someone like Walker. He’s on debut, in the halves for game 1 at Suncorp - if he has a bad game I don’t want people pointing to this as the reason

Is a few guy protesting going to change it though? Why don't they all get together have an alternative and start there,
