I f**king hate Waltzing Matilda
A song about rooting sheep.

Is there a song called "We can't agree on anything and we don't give a f**k"?

You are a soap dodger so I will excuse your tastelessness just this once pommy.

How about the Aussie version of "I've been every where"

Well, I was humpin’ my bluey
on the dusty Oodnadatta road
When along came a semi with a
high and canvas-covered load
“If you’re goin’ to Oodnadatta,
mate, um, with me you can ride.”
So I climbed in the cabin
and I settled down inside
He asked me if I’d seen a road
with so much dust and sand,
I said “Listen, mate, I’ve travelled
ev’ry road in this here land.”

Cos “I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
‘Cross the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Of travel I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been ev’rywhere

I've been to
Tullamore, Seymour, Lismore, Mooloolaba
Nambour, Maroochydore
Kilmore, Murwillumbah
Birdsville, Emmaville

It's an Australian song. The same Aussie songwriter reworded it for an American version. There were many other versions made for various countries but the Lucky Starr 1962 version was the original.

I think you''ll find a difference in the history of how the indigenous peoples of both countries were treated says a lot about how those cultures are seen.

Eg the Maori had a treaty with the same rights as British subjects from 1840 and Land Rights.

Compare that with the fact Aborigines were being slaughtered and rounded up well into the 1900s, have no treaty, have only just recently been given land rights (much to the fear of some whites) and aren't even acknowledged in our constitution (unlike the Maori).

Edit:

Wow , the Maori have had 4 places in parliament reserved for them since 1867 so the Maori can have a direct say in government.

I believe you Pal. I truly do. I honestly get that your an everyday bloke and would gladly sit with anybody over a beer or coffee or whatever. I don't believe your overtly racist at all. These 3 Black Fellas ideas is to not sing the anthem. Them, You and I know it's not gunna change the world. I honestly cant remember whether you said you were against it or not, but I suspect you're in the don't care boat. All I'm saying is embrace their decision and actually care enough to support them, not turn it into something bigger than what it is, and give weight to the voices that want to tear them down.

Responses like this in higher frequency would've saved this thread a lot of pages and unnecessary name-calling. I think the vast majority of people sharing their thoughts here legitimately have good intentions towards the future of this country and its' Aboriginal population, it's just that the ideas on how we achieve this differ. Making hasty assumptions about somebody else because their "how" is different from yours only derails real progress.

This is f**king great. I know we aren’t perfect, but at least we aren’t the AFL.

It shits me that so many people in this country (even in RL states) think AFL culture is something to aspire to and that League culture is rotten to the core. Just goes to show the effects of paid marketing spin...

What I dont like about the Australian anthem is the tone. It sounds too happy and everything is all rainbows, flowers and butterflies. You don't hear the 'struggle' like you do with the US and NZ anthem. You need something that can hit you in the emotions.
