Well here we are. Very early in the season.
The man who was backed by many to take over as Eels head Coach being J Holbrook versus the stability of BA who has had 7 years to not only assemble "his team" but to also put in place his processes and ideas about how "Rug-ba-league" should be played.
The Titans in game one started poorly but did fight back. The Titans are also without a few of their high priced players. Be that as it may The Eels face many of their demons this Sunday.
We have not been great on the road nor are we great at doubling up wins. We are also not great at winning those games we are expected to win. Its also a great unknown how players will respond with no crowds in attendance.
Great defence from our Eels last game but very scratchy with the ball. No injurys and at full strength. Has BA changed the teams mindset? Is this a revitalised, rejuvenated and restructed Eels team we can confidently predict will turn up in any circumstance?
Titans a bits and pieces roster coached by a guy fronting up for his second only NRL game. Lets see how Mr Holbrook fares. I personally think hes a great talent. It should be enthralling.
No excuses boys. Lets go.
I'm keen to see how the Dogs defence goes tonight. Except it'll mostly be over by the time I get home from work.

I had Eels winning by 12-16

However, after putting the above into my algorithm, which is the same algorithm software company that is used for hiney111s power rankings,

It is now Titans by 6. Bank on that...

Manchester United goal keeper EDISON in 2018 set the world record for longest drop kick of a soccer ball - 75 metres. That's a long way. I recon on the full Moses could only kick a rugby league ball about 50m.
Did edison have 5 merkins running at him trying to take his head off?

Covid19 distractions aside, this game will give us an indication if this is the same old "promise the world but deliver an atlas" Eels or if BA has actually got this team fair dinkum.

I'm sure rugby league will be the great winner on the day.

No, I am not sure tactically how it would end up. Just wondering if with the new rule there might be room for a specialist like Glenn McGrath. Useless at everything except one really important thing.

Are...are you saying that Glenn McGrath was useless???

A football is way easier to kick, than a rugby league ball, bro.

I feel if you hit a rugby league ball just right it would go further than a round ball, due to superior aerodynamics.

I never played at any professional level, but I was a goalkeeper when I played football, and a goal-kicking prop when I played rugby league.

Footballs are generally lighter, and their dimpled nature makes the ball float a great distance.

Rugby league balls, when struck sweetly, can fly, but I always felt the rotational effects on an oblong-shaped ball played against the distance.

Obviously not.
But he was useless except for one very specific and important skill which he was expected to be great at. Like, nobody would have traded a little bit of his production as a bowler for a bit more production from him as a batsmen. Which IS what happens in league. Everybody has to be (or gets to be) a bit of an all rounder. Like in T20.

Glenn McGrath got plenty of top order bats to their hundreds. It's a bit of a myth that he was useless.

Sure he struggled to score but by the end of his career he was quite good at sticking around with a batsman.

Plus his era was the era of proper tail enders, so your comparison just shows a lack of knowledge.

He was probably the worst pro batsmen in the country for most of his career. He probably worked on it a bit in his own spare time out of pride. It would have been unacceptable for his bowling production to slip even a smidgen due to him spending time on his batting.

Well, I could kick a drop out 50m at the age of 16. If I was Indian I could probably have made 55m

The beauty of a specialist long kicker would be he would just be watching for that one thing all game like a hawk. If he calls for the ball (because someone's out of position) he better have gotten it right and produce the goods because he sure isn't putting in elsewhere.

So you are effectively playing with 12 man except for the few times he needs to put in a 70m kick?
