Look in all seriousness you are close to the truth Big Hit.
But don't let Seibold off the hook. The guys is a snake oil salesman, its mostly likely that he has his head so far up his arse that he actually believed he was a coach good enough to coach in the NRL
He is a fraud and nothing more. The Bronco's head office are a bunch of dumb asses and Bennett is an evil scheming old man who has a has a history of enjoying destroying clubs

Roosters on Broncos 2020
59-0
58-12

First time Roosters have racked up 100, and 2x 50s, on an opponent since 1935.

Eat it Broncos

Pity the team won't get the chance to equal the 1935 team and do it to two different opponents in the same season -

1935 NSWRL

Round 6: Roosters 87 def. Canterbury 7 at the Sydney Sports Ground.
Round 15: Rooster 65 def. Canterbury 10 at Pratten Park.

Round 7: Roosters 57 def. Norths 9 at the SCG.
Round 16: Roosters 53 def. Norths 15 at the SCG.

Source - https://afltables.com/rl/seas/1935.html

In fact the 1935 team almost did it to three different teams that season -

Round 5: Roosters 61 def. University 5 at the Sydney Sports Ground.
Round 14: Roosters 40 def. University 5 at Pratten Park.

Hopefully it makes the NRL fast track Brisbane 2

Retrospectively looking back at this video from 1995 at the start of the Super League War when the subject of 2 teams in Brisbane was discussed, it's sad to see the monopoly one team (Broncos) got on the entire SE QLD region in the years that followed after Super League dissolved.

And here we are in 2020 and there's still this discussion in the media over whether or not there should be 2 NRL franchises in Brisbane....

Shame on those people in the audience applauding John Ribot. Took many years for rugby league in Australia to recover from the mess he was instrumental in orchestrating.

He can probably coach. What this experience says to me is that it really doesn't matter who coaches the team. The most important ingredient are the players. Not necessarily just ability, but the character of those players.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but how was this really going to end any other way?
1. Seibold was contracted to Souths for 2019, he shouldn't have considered any other future appointment as a contracted coach.
2. Bennett had the support of Broncos players, and turned them against the front office.
3. Bennett fronted up to 2019 season prep, dug his heels in.
4. Seibold reluctantly attended Souths 2019 season prep, players knew he was jumping ship, Anthony chucked a tanty saying Wayne was holding up the swap.
5. The swap eventually went through, Bennett starting fresh at Souths with allies such as the Burgii in his camp.
6. Seibold had snakes in the grass from day dot. He was the front office's man and they turfed Wayne.
7. The Brisbane leader is Darius Boyd - enough said.

Career progression requires knowing when to take an opportunity, and also, consider not taking it when it comes up if the time is not right. Point 1 was reason enough not to consider this one at the time. The rest of them confirmed it.

End of the day, Seibold is taking all the hate. Astounding that there seems to be little heat in the Brisbane media for the front office which basically set off this debacle.

Ultimately he brought this on himself.
He forced the swap through when both he and Wayne were contracted for another year. He turned it into a media circus until he got his way. He "cleaned out" almost all of the Broncos senior talent, except for the worst of the bunch, Boyd.
Every time the going got tougher, he escalated it again in the media and kept insinuating it was someone else's (read: Wayne's) fault.
He wanted the biggest job in Rugby League, and couldn't hack it.

As for the Broncos head office. Frauds top to bottom.
Morris and White punted Bennett (twice) to prove they had the bigger cocks or something, and twice replaced him with rookie coaches who were nowhere near up to following him.
Lockyer has been instrumental in various f**k-ups.
The head of recruitment Nolan was responsible for engineering Parra's glory years of the early 2010s so there's a fine pedigree.
And on it goes.

If Newcorp have any sack, they'll clean the entire joint out. Hopefully they let it rot a bit more though, because it's been a fun ride.

You've got that wrong.

White came to the club in 2011, Morris in 2018. Neither of them had anything to do with Bennett's departure in 2008.

They bungled it because they went after and failed to sign Bellamy. They were supposed to keep Bennett in the loop, but Wayne got more information out of the papers than he did from management which created the split.

White already announced that this would be his final season. I can't see Morris hanging around much longer and Nolan is about to be shown the door (again - he was with the Broncos well before Parra when he got them Ma'u and Radradra).

Let alone, what made it worse, when it became Darius's form deserved him being punted out of the side, Seibold did not have the kahonas to drop him (nor Milford for that matter). Hence as two of the biggest names were not being held to account for their poor form by the coach, it spread thru the playing squad that you didn't need to put in the effort as the coach would not drop you. So that is on the coach, but also partly on the CEO and Board for not asking the coach the why these two under performing players were always being selected.

There were some obvious signs in the pre-season the Broncos were going to be up against it. Players having run ins with the law, senior players suffering serious long term injuries and some bizarre recruitment decisions. The fact the Broncos were the first team to finalise their 30 man NRL squad and 6 Development squad list after their 2019 season didn't bode well.

Expectations weren't high but in the first two rounds they demonstrated they could be a fringe top 8 team. Sure, they beat an awful Cowboys outfit and a very shakey South Sydney Rabbitohs, but the performances from the Broncos were spirited and even without a host of stars, they looked a lot sharper than they had in years.

Then Covid hit and for whatever reason, the Broncos were convinced the season wasn't going to restart until July at the absolute earliest. They booked Fifita in for surgery, left the players to their own devices as the Broncos figured out what cuts they had to make to the organisation. Then just after Fifita's surgery, V'landys announced the competition would resume and the draw would be revised. The Broncos went from a reasonable clash against the Gold Coast Titans to the Parramatta Eels to help spice up their ratings.

The two teams break a ratings record, but the Broncos come out of it the worst for wear after a horrific second half. The Broncos losing to the Eels wasn't a shock, the Eels were a much better team regardless, but the second half was awful and someplayers were coming up with some shocking efforts. To make matters worse, they lost three key players out of that game and had to take on the defending premiers the following week. They suffer another record loss and suddenly they're scrambling. They get one last shot at redemption against Manly and it appeared they were going to get a nice confidence boosting win leading 18-0. Then off the back of a 12-0 penalty count, the Broncos capitulate and lose 20-18 and from that point on they're just a broken team. They bomb easy tries, they cop one bad call so suddenly they give away 2-3 quick ones in succession and there's just no confidence in what they're doing. Injuries continue to pile, the coach makes way too many changes and they're in all sorts.

It appeared things would settle when they'd beat the Bulldogs. Sure, they weren't making the finals, but maybe they could finish the season on a brighter note and we could all pin this on a horror year and put Boyd's money to good use. Instead they pick up right where they left off against the Warriors and lose 48-0 in their worst effort yet.

It's been like that ever since with the odd rookie showing a glimmer of promise.

In a way, it was a blessing this season expidited the process for the Broncos. 2021 is shaping up to be even worse than 2020 for the club, but at least they can give themselves a shot at fixing themselves up for 2022. I just think Seibs went crazy on rookies or players he had something to do with when they were juniors who are very mediocre. Along with all the pre-existing issues which he never really addressed it's just come to a head spectacularly.

Crazy scenes on Channel 9 with Gus Gould having to deliver a pre-Origin spiel to encourage Broncos fans to stay tuned for the entire coverage. Clearly Channel 9 aren't enjoying the dip in ratings.

That is some magnificent cope.

Bring back Seibold. 58 points, what an embarrassment. Gentle is the worst coach in Broncos history.

At least it was nice to see a video of the great man, John Ribot.

Great analysis and spot on.

Are you serious? If anything, the CEO and board would've been demanding that he play $2m of the cap rather than sit them on the pine. Boyd and Milford are their players, not Seibold's.

End of the day, it was bad judgement on Seibold's part for considering the donkeys while still under contract at another club. It was bad judgement to think he had finished a job at Souths after only one year. It was also bad judgement to think what he could do with Brisbane was better than what he had at Souths. It was probably bad judgement to think he could leave his family in Sydney and work in Brisbane, but that's getting a bit personal.

He probably saw the mules as the big time gig. An opportunity that probably wouldn't come his way again. But the time has to be right and it clearly wasn't.

The coach is responsible for selections. That fight was won decades ago. As such constantly selecting both Boyd and Milford is on Seibold as I said for not having the kahonas to stand up and drop them. If the board were pushing for them to both play all the time, then it just reinforces what I was saying, which was they were partly responsible for the situation which then spread thru the squad by not dropping those two.

He strikes me as someone who probably doesn't have a great deal of integrity and only looks out for himself. I don't condone the social media trolls though.
