Dont know about Ch9 as dont watch it but on Fox Ennis and Cronk are very good. Burgess is avg, Roach and Hodges are terrible.
James Graham would be good if he comes back next year.

I’m fairly certain he will be with Fox next year. He got his citizenship to come back with his family, he was always good on 360.

Broncos it's not too late for a dip at Bea Arthur, lack of hair shouldn't worry you. He really knows his stuff.

Well Fittler is pretty good at knowing not what to do when coaching a club.

Now come on Anthony start naming names and stop pretending you have names to name

The only shining light of Seibold resigning before Friday is that he maybe spared from 2 potential cricket-like scorelines in the next couple of weeks.

I wasn't aware that the Broncos' next two matches are against the Roosters and Panthers. The scorelines for these matches could get very ugly for the Broncos, as both those sides are capable of scoring 50+ points if they click on game day.

Roosters scoring 50+ came to fruition tonight. Had a strong feeling that they'd pile a big score on the "Baby (John Burgess)" Broncos if they clicked on the night, and they sure as hell did, scoring 10 tries.

Regarding "baby", here's one of the biggest babies in the team:

Never seen someone less accountable for their own failure.

Old boys fault. Senior players fault. COVIDs fault. Trolls fault. Medias fault. Waynes fault.
Going on about his reputation. Champ you had 2 barely pass mark years with squads you walked into that someone else built.
The bloke's a fraud and a narcissist.

Have to admit, I bought into it. After that first year with Souths I thought he could be the next big thing in coaching. But first year truly on the reigns was a total collapse. Every decision he's made on his own has been a bust.
Looking back, it would be hard to go wrong with that Souths squad built by Richo and Madge. He had a good assistant in Furner, too.

All that said, he didn't hire himself for 5 years.
The Chairman has to follow the CEO out the door, he's had his fingers right in this shit pie. Lockyer, Peter Nolan, and most of the Moses-managed players need to be f**ked off too. Newscorp should run the worlds biggest broom through the joint.
Make no mistake, Broncos are at Eels 2010-2016 levels right now. Not surprised to see some of the same faces involved.
Well said.

The bigger question is: what happened to the Broncos in that two month period between Round 2 and Round 3?

Won their first two matches, and then it's feels like the Broncos were channeling the 1999 Western Suburbs team when the NRL season resumed in May.

Now that the era when there used to be a plethora of home-grown Aussie tv dramas (e.g. Blue Heelers, Water Rats, All Saints, Sons & Daughters, A Country Practice etc.) has ceased due to production costs, "the HOME of rugby league" has resorted to broadcasting the Broncos getting thrashed to keep the Thursday night/Friday night entertainment industry going in this country.

Since the NRL re-commenced after COVID-19 postponed the comp for a couple of months, just look at these brilliant results the Broncos have dished up for the Ch9 audience (remember, these are matches Ch9 chose to select AFTER the NRL draw was modified):

6-34 vs Parramatta (home)
0-59 vs Sydney Roosters (home)
18-20 vs Manly (away)
6-27 vs Newcastle (away)
0-48 vs Wests Tigers (away)
8-46 vs Melbourne (home)

Since I posted this, I should also add the other Broncos Ch9 matches:

26-36 vs Cronulla (home)
10-28 vs South Sydney (away)
24-28 vs St George/Illawarra (home)
12-58 vs Sydney Roosters (away)

So, in the ten Ch9 matches the Broncos have had since the NRL comp resumed in May, they have conceded (on average) 38.4 points per game!

I read in the news a month ago how tv ratings have declined for Broncos matches since Rd 3 vs Parramatta......

Maybe this will teach Ch9 a lesson giving the Broncos (or any team for that matter) a large allocation of FTA matches.

I'm not arguing that they didn't, it is not good for the game though to have them (and I'll throw the Bulldogs in there too as two of the biggest NRL fan bases) at the bottom of the ladder and not even close to the pace of the comp.
They aren't entitled to success just because they have a lot of fans and money.

LOL! Why should the Broncos be entitled to success? Sheer utter arrogance.

Is this going to start to become like cricket where the World Cup format was changed for the 2011/15 tournaments just so India (whose cricket board, BCCI, contributes > 60% of the ICC's total revenue from the test playing nations) had pretty much a guaranteed finals spot after they were too inept in 2007 where they lost to Bangladesh, didn't make it past the group stage (also, Pakistan lost to Ireland and didn't advance beyond the group stage) and tv broadcasters were upset at a drop in ratings during the 2nd round and finals?

Since 1992, the Broncos have only missed the finals twice (2010, 2013). If my team (Knights) make the finals this year, it will be the first time since 2013 they've made the top 8.

There were some obvious signs in the pre-season the Broncos were going to be up against it. Players having run ins with the law, senior players suffering serious long term injuries and some bizarre recruitment decisions. The fact the Broncos were the first team to finalise their 30 man NRL squad and 6 Development squad list after their 2019 season didn't bode well.

Expectations weren't high but in the first two rounds they demonstrated they could be a fringe top 8 team. Sure, they beat an awful Cowboys outfit and a very shakey South Sydney Rabbitohs, but the performances from the Broncos were spirited and even without a host of stars, they looked a lot sharper than they had in years.

Then Covid hit and for whatever reason, the Broncos were convinced the season wasn't going to restart until July at the absolute earliest. They booked Fifita in for surgery, left the players to their own devices as the Broncos figured out what cuts they had to make to the organisation. Then just after Fifita's surgery, V'landys announced the competition would resume and the draw would be revised. The Broncos went from a reasonable clash against the Gold Coast Titans to the Parramatta Eels to help spice up their ratings.

The two teams break a ratings record, but the Broncos come out of it the worst for wear after a horrific second half. The Broncos losing to the Eels wasn't a shock, the Eels were a much better team regardless, but the second half was awful and someplayers were coming up with some shocking efforts. To make matters worse, they lost three key players out of that game and had to take on the defending premiers the following week. They suffer another record loss and suddenly they're scrambling. They get one last shot at redemption against Manly and it appeared they were going to get a nice confidence boosting win leading 18-0. Then off the back of a 12-0 penalty count, the Broncos capitulate and lose 20-18 and from that point on they're just a broken team. They bomb easy tries, they cop one bad call so suddenly they give away 2-3 quick ones in succession and there's just no confidence in what they're doing. Injuries continue to pile, the coach makes way too many changes and they're in all sorts.

It appeared things would settle when they'd beat the Bulldogs. Sure, they weren't making the finals, but maybe they could finish the season on a brighter note and we could all pin this on a horror year and put Boyd's money to good use. Instead they pick up right where they left off against the Warriors and lose 48-0 in their worst effort yet.

It's been like that ever since with the odd rookie showing a glimmer of promise.

In a way, it was a blessing this season expidited the process for the Broncos. 2021 is shaping up to be even worse than 2020 for the club, but at least they can give themselves a shot at fixing themselves up for 2022. I just think Seibs went crazy on rookies or players he had something to do with when they were juniors who are very mediocre. Along with all the pre-existing issues which he never really addressed it's just come to a head spectacularly.

Crazy scenes on Channel 9 with Gus Gould having to deliver a pre-Origin spiel to encourage Broncos fans to stay tuned for the entire coverage. Clearly Channel 9 aren't enjoying the dip in ratings.

Lol @ Channel 9 learning anything.
If they continue the way they’re going, they’ll be lucky to still be around in 10 years.

He can probably coach. What this experience says to me is that it really doesn't matter who coaches the team. The most important ingredient are the players. Not necessarily just ability, but the character of those players.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but how was this really going to end any other way?
1. Seibold was contracted to Souths for 2019, he shouldn't have considered any other future appointment as a contracted coach.
2. Bennett had the support of Broncos players, and turned them against the front office.
3. Bennett fronted up to 2019 season prep, dug his heels in.
4. Seibold reluctantly attended Souths 2019 season prep, players knew he was jumping ship, Anthony chucked a tanty saying Wayne was holding up the swap.
5. The swap eventually went through, Bennett starting fresh at Souths with allies such as the Burgii in his camp.
6. Seibold had snakes in the grass from day dot. He was the front office's man and they turfed Wayne.
7. The Brisbane leader is Darius Boyd - enough said.

Career progression requires knowing when to take an opportunity, and also, consider not taking it when it comes up if the time is not right. Point 1 was reason enough not to consider this one at the time. The rest of them confirmed it.

End of the day, Seibold is taking all the hate. Astounding that there seems to be little heat in the Brisbane media for the front office which basically set off this debacle.
