lol this thread should be required reading for anyone here who says ditching Cleary was a crazy call. Obviously history makes it look crazy in retrospect, but during the Cleary years no-one thought those times were as good as we make them out to be now.

I was just dropping a pithy one-liner for bants

    OT: US Election

Surely running for President is indicative of extreme narcissism at a minimum in the first place (re: Harris being nuts)

    Warriors Awards 2024

As someone foolish enough to be on twitter and to follow him, I can honestly say that The Mole might be the dumbest bloke on the planet. Incredible that he's paid to write about the game.

    Honestly.....not really

I have Jones slightly ahead of Johnson but "on paper" there isn't much between them as Warriors. 12 seasons vs 11, 200+ games each, each made the finals 3 times and 1 grand final. In fact, each had essentially an identical finals record - out in the first week once, out in the grand final...

    That was Inu's rookie season

It was 4-0 and there were about 25 minutes left. Eels then got out to a 12-4 lead, and we brought it back to 12-10 with the penalty try with about 3 minutes to go. Was a bit of a bludger of a game, all 4 tries were from kicks. One surprising thing is Ah Van was all over Inu in the air, he got...

I just found highlights of that Eels game on YouTube and Gould was absolutely apoplectic about Witt’s penalty try while Voss did his usual fake-confused act. Hilarious because it was a deadset penalty try if ever you’ve seen one.

I was at that 2007 Eels game, sitting on the grass to the right of the posts (so in line with the left edge of the attacking team running towards the hill)....can anyone confirm that Swann's f**k up happened right in front of me? Funny thing is, I don't have particularly strong memories of it...

l wish I could say the same. I can never genuinely enjoy a Tonga game. I’d much rather the whole Tongan RL collapsed and they never played another game.

I had some sympathy for Johnson's comments in 2017 because I had also adopted a bit of a siege mentality after the Tonga defections. SJ might have had something completely different in mind when he said that (yes I realise it was after the Fiji game), but given the way our campaign was derailed...

    Bandwagon

Oh for sure (for what it's worth I'm disregarding 2007 and 2009 when I say that they haven't won many premierships). I still think that what Melbourne have continued to do for the 15 years since is very impressive, and they haven't always had the sort of stacked squads they did when they were...

Yeah the book absolutely stunk and the overriding impression you get from it, sadly, is he’s an idiot and an arsehole and it’s a shame (and dangerous) that he’s become so confident and forthright in his own opinions. It was sort of deflating and disturbing at the same time, wanting to read...

I’m definitely the weird one when it comes to stuff like this, but it’s crazy to me how often players make mistakes like this when narrating their own lives. Another example is that I’ve always been interested in the progress of SBW’s career from leaving NZ to playing first grade, so I read his...

    NRL Finals 2024

On the flip-side of my comments about Bennett/Dolphins, it's funny how O'Brien is widely perceived as a dud coach and yet for me the Knights have overachieved the last two years.

    Curran

I found it, the tweet was from Sam Hewat (think he's on the radio on SENZ?) and Curran's average minutes were 49 last year and 53 this year. Mostly starting on the bench in both cases. I don't see how that's getting cute with stats, it's accurately making the point that Curran has remained a...

    NRL Rd 27 2024 - General Non-Warriors Thread

On Brian Smith, I was thinking recently about how the Broncos, Raiders and to a slightly lesser extent Manly were the superstar sides of the 90s, yet somehow relatively workmanlike Dragons and Bulldogs sides made 4 and 3 grand finals respectively. From 1992 to 1996 either the Bulldogs or Dragons...
