Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/season-reviews-the-milliondollar-man-who-must-lift-for-knights-where-it-went-wrong-for-sharks/news-story/2de4674db652af102eea8302d77c5aca "Needs to lift: Mitchell Pearce. He’s the captain, the halfback, and the club’s highest paid player. Pearce...

Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

now that might be acceptable and would allow us to chase a top halves partner to lead us into the future.

Match Discussion: Finals Week 1 vs Rabbitohs @ ANZ Stadium

Totally agree, my heart sinks when people mention Hoy alongside Pearce. With only his past to go by Pearce has always had a fairly seasoned pro alongside him certainly not a rookie. Edit- I'd almost go as far to say if a rookie is put alongside Pearce it could destroy the kid. He'd be the...

Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

If we can see it as plain as day then surely AOB knows. Another year of Pearce and if we get a good 5/8 to take control we may have limited success and again make the 8 but not be a serious contender. Talk of extending him is pure madness.

Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

Yep, the standard of halfbacks really is in a bad way. I remember when the competition was flush with good to great and exciting halves. I think around the time even before Joey's retirement was the end of it.

Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

wow The others on that list made their teams better whereas Pearce had to leave to make his team better No way known to man the Pearce would rank so highly if he werent surrounded by a champion team most of his career.

Yeh not exactly a fair and equal season really - I suppose we should just be thankful we had a season at all

I was wondering that also. I think they are including the finals in those stats. In any case we fair quite poorly. We have a habit of not wrapping the legs up and a lot of post contact mtrs gained. I'd love to see a team come out and start to tackle in the traditional way- straight around the...

Mentally I think this season would be different to most others - being locked in a bubble, not being able to see sick loved ones etc is an adverse effect we cant really quantify this year. I think with the exception of the Bulldogs game all those games you mentioned were away and required...

I agree , we handled the season better than some teams. If anything this season may have appeared to be soft on the field but mentally I'm sure it was a tough season for the players.

this is a huge one. We fail to stay down their end and build any kind of pressure.

We are 2nd in RMC sandwiched between the Bulldogs and Broncos and 5 thousand mtrs away from 1st place https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/stats/teams?category=defenceAndDiscipline&sortBy=runMetresConceded

Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

I've heard Cronk say on a number of occasions when referring to advice for young halfbacks or ones out of form " get back to basics - get your defense right and kick the ball well and everything will come off the back of that" ...... for a guy with nearly 300 games it's hard to explain...

Match Discussion: Finals Week 1 vs Rabbitohs @ ANZ Stadium

Teams with more offloads and line breaks tend to have a lower completion rate ( Panthers being the exception ) we play a VERY conservative style of footy - 1st in the competition in 1 pass hit-ups High completions, low offloads leading to low amount of line breaks and 2nd last in line engagements.

Mitchell Pearce, what does he do well?

At this point I have to wonder of AOB really believes this ? or is this something he felt he had to say ? Whilsts very valid excuses it doesnt explain the season Pearce had. https://www.newcastleknights.com.au/news/2020/10/06/obrien-support-for-skipper-half-the-battle-in-2021/ "This bloke...

B - or 7/10 Considering last years we have improved no doubt about it. We have a new coach with new staff and systems to learn. Huge injury toll plus Tuala, Shibasaki, Star, Best, Jones, Randall, all either new to the club or rookies - all showed great promise for the future. Positives The...

not sure how I feel about that. He'd make a decent 5/8 not sure about a future halfback.
