    From memory the Storm didn’t “pass on him” - they granted him a release because he wanted to return to Sydney for family reasons (he was originally from the Sharks’ junior system). Plus with this logic, we should be dismissive of Doorey because the Dogs let him go.

    I don’t disagree, but I’d argue Waqa has had the same deficiencies since he first came to our club. Sure he goes on “hot” streaks, but the same concerns remain (and while he formed a good combo with Opacic, he won’t be here next season). Also we shouldn’t forget that Dunster was showing fine...

    Even less reason to have Scott in our squad with the Simonson signing. Curtis is a player that never quite lived up to the hype behind him, even when he was at Melbourne.

    This is true, but in his own mind Fitz is an expert on all fields of Australian history and sport, thus why we have to suffer his out of touch and often bizarre statements when he ventures into the field of League 'journalism'. Hooper is definitely a deserved winner of this honour.

    Yep, wouldn’t be surprised if Roosters still have Verills in their plans. They are loathe to letting anyone of value leaving, particularly in a position that a) is currently in high demand and b) they have particularly been cursed in with injuring over the past few seasons.

    Agreed, no different to Will Smith leaving for Gold Coast. Sure seemingly a player that BA liked to keep around and play as a bench utility, but at the end of the day, there's probably better value for money out there in terms of squad composition.

    Was reading a Fox Sports article earlier today (probably my first mistake) and whoever wrote it framed it in a way that suggested that our 'premiership window' would be closed unless we signed a first class hooker for next season... I think even the media is confused by the bizarre contract...
