    2019 Crowd Watch

Would have thought providing a modernized, comfortable, exciting sporting venue is a significant encouragement for the casual fan to attend. Watch the footy at a white elephant or a shiny new showpiece, tough choice!

Sam Burgess served with show cause notice

Burgess is far from likeable but to 1) Suspend for a hair pull is a bit ridiculous and 2) a Show cause because of comments like that? Please. Read the comments from the GWS CEO after their tribunal hearings this week insinuating bias from the panel. Much worse I'd say. If refs see it in play or...

    2019 Crowd Watch

That extra 15 minutes though, crikey, that's a deal breaker instead of sitting in a nice, new stadium to watch a knockout final ;)

    2019 Crowd Watch

I understand regular season free tickets to generate interest and boost the atmosphere, especially to young supporters, that's a no-brainer. But for finals, besides marketing, promotions and rewards to clubs participating, just handing out tickets devalues the game a little, not to mention a...

    2019 Crowd Watch

It's the finals, offering any free tickets is a little embarrassing!

    2019 Crowd Watch

I believe the roosters have earned the right over the season to choose where they host their final, especially given their likely choice can hold up to 46k.

    2019 Crowd Watch

At the right pricing point there would definitely be some interest there

    2019 Crowd Watch

It sounds like a good idea in theory but in reality, how many would be prepared to pay for two finals tickets in one day? I suggest at current pricing, unfortunately that won’t be too many. Regular season paying for a gen admin ticket maybe, finals pricing is a bit of an ask for walk ups.

    2019 Crowd Watch

Melbourne and it’s ‘surrounds’ have 9 AFL teams numpty, as you have been told before. Your case therefore doesn’t make sense.

    2019 Crowd Watch

No, not Sydney, been there, but I have seen first hand what success looks like and you can either sit on your hands and say “that’ll do” and be average, or strive to grow and modernise. I’ve been on plenty of hills at the footy and cricket. Park sport that is, not professional sport. It’s great...

    2019 Crowd Watch

Yes, Aussie born bred and eyes open to hard decisions needed to progress a large scale, popular, professional sport. Lucky enough to grow up in a city where attending sport in big stadiums is part of the fabric of the social culture.

    2019 Crowd Watch

Rubbish. I live in a city where tribalism is significant and it fills large stadiums regularly. Centralised stadiums where people travel from all over to attend and cheer their team. The NRL can do this if they have enough balls to push for it long term. Park stadiums should be for local park...

    2019 Crowd Watch

You’re correct, half-full, suburban park stadiums just screams top grade professional sport.

    2019 Crowd Watch

They’re good if you want to be a static, semi-professional sport. Park footy is for low grade footy. Centralise stadiums for Sydney teams. It will take a while but if not, the 15k average won’t be improving much for a while

NRL announce higher than expected surplus

That's a handy result for the NRL, sure as heck beats a loss. They really should demonstrate though how they plan on using those excess funds for the good of the game. NFP's should be working hard on ensuring that they use the value they generate for the betterment of their stakeholders...

Channel 9 wants to kill of a sydney club

Yep, we have been dominant and it is a sports crazed town. But RL is not the biggest thing in town. Consider the 4 biggest AFL clubs average more than 50k to each home game says that there is a strong, established connection that the Storm have to try and get a piece of. Brisbane have one RL...

Channel 9 wants to kill of a sydney club

Please enlighten me to these calculations? No doubt they would appear a bit mental... The numbers speak for themselves. Roosters and Storm are a couple of the best supported teams in the comp. Facts. Not 'minus this, minus that', facts.

Channel 9 wants to kill of a sydney club

RL is not the biggest thing in town in Melbourne, to expect similar crowds to AFL is stupidity. Relative to other RL clubs Melbourne are well supported on game day and have found a very strong niche presence in the city dominated by another code.

Channel 9 wants to kill of a sydney club

It's well known that people supporting inferior teams deride those who do what they can to maximize their attendances to disguise their own teams ineptness in this area.

    2019 Crowd Watch

I know down here, other clubs have tried to find event games, Richmond and Melbourne have recently forged the ANZAC Eve game and that seems to have a fantastic atmosphere with the ceremony performed at night with all lights turned off. Surely two NRL teams can use ANZAC Eve, Good Friday Eve and...
