    The Finals-2024

Don't understand all the fuss. A few Ibuprofen and he'll be fine.
  2. JohnnoMcJohnno

    Valentine Holmes

Exactly, he'll be back in time for next year's finals.

    Ryan Webb

Well maybe. We'll have to wait and see. The recent history of this club suggests their modus operandi is to hire someone decent in a key role for a few years and then once things are running OK to replace them with an old boy. For example, coach - Wayne Bennett replaced by Steve Price...

    Ryan Webb

If Twiggy has had something to do with the decision (which I reckon is a very big IF), then he hasn't shaken up the Board at all because the Board hasn't changed. It's the same combination of WIN acolytes and favoured old boys that it always has been. And if Twiggy has leant on the Board to make...

    The Rumours Thread

Why would anyone want the Fox? Done for drugs and driving while under the influence of said drugs, lied to management about it, and made fools of the people who stood up for him. All trust now is gone. For that matter, why would we want Gutho? A very good player but his best years are behind him...

    Ryan Webb

I'm 50-50 on Webb. But of the items you raise how much was Webb and how much of it was the Board? With respect to signing Flanno, my understanding was it was Board members that were the problem, not Webb. In terms of the business side of things looking after itself if the team is going well -...

    Ryan Webb

Mixed feelings about this. Webb has at least turned the finances around and got the club to where they can now afford to invest in things that should help the club in the future, like the centre of excellence. On the other hand our results on the field have not improved while he was there, we...

In my limited experience of such matters, when a CEO's contract is not renewed it's because the Board feels the business/organisation/club should be doing much better. In our case it's more likely that the Board knows an old boy who needs a job.

I suspect Manly will be pulling out their chequebook and re-signing him after that game.

    Flanno's New Signings

If we had smart operators running the club, we sure could. But we have too many Dumbos still thinking we are the great St George.

    The Rumours Thread

Deliberate? I doubt it. More likely another example of how badly our club leaks. If you want to sell something you usually talk it up, not tell everyone how crappy it is. As of now if someone is interested in Hunt, they will be expecting a bargain with us paying most of the cost. Our only hope...

    The Rumours Thread

Not sure about that. RCG still has another contract year with the eels so we were only offering 1 year above what he already has. Not a huge incentive to move. Once again we miss out on someone we were chasing and we add another name to our list of failed targets. Maybe it's not a fiasco but in...

    The Board

Didn't help did it. Actively looking for players without a recruitment manager gives me no confidence.

    Flanno's New Signings

Early days, but so far it looks like the same old shite in 2025. Roll out the same team plus Holmes minus Lomax. Should finish 11th again. Oh, and Hunt will be one year older and stupider. Make that 12th. Think I'll skip 2025 and come back in 2026.

    The Board

West's Tigers blew up their board this year. Didn't help this year's performances. Will it result in long term improvements? Who knows.

    The Rumours Thread

I'm saying no. I remember back in 2013 Nathan Fien was playing for us. He had been going OK in a dummy half role, but when we moved him to the halves our attack went from ordinary to pathetic. I reckon using Cook in that role would be a similar disaster.

    Round 27 v Raiders

I don't think that's right. There's been nearly 200 games so far this year and 1 draw. So chances of a draw are roughly 1 in 200. Being generous, our chances of winning against the Raiders are 50-50 or 1 in 2. So our chances of making the finals are 1 in 400. Having once won a frozen chook in...

Parra R 26 Now or Never.

He's hot and cold. I would have liked him on board, and he's better than Lawrie, but at the same time he goes missing in games. And as most of our current squad goes missing in games I reckon we will be better served if we can get RCG.

    Season 2024 over

Wins against top 8 sides: 2022 - Souths (7th), Canberra (8th) 2024 - Manly (7th), Panther (2nd), Storm (1st), Dolphins (probably 8th) At least we showed we could compete with the big boys in 2024. Biggest Home Crowd: 2022 - 16,000 at WIN against Wests Tigers 2024 - 19,000 at WIN against Penrith...

    Round 27 v Raiders

Canberra players will be battered and bruised. Good chance we can get a win to finish 9th. If so, we will have reached the level of competency of the Wests Tigers of five years ago.
