    Expansion Team Names

Let’s get the federal government behind them! Sign the petition, vote in the referendum, make them the people’s team.

    Expansion Team Names

That’s why those names are part of local teams... barring the toads (cane toads) they don’t really capture the imagination of a wider audience. The only reason the Roosters and Rabbits still exist is due to heritage. You’d be hard pressed finding a new team in the modern era that would name...

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

Henson Park definitely has lights. Used to play there in my day in Roosters Dev & HM Squads. Night games on a greasy Henson park midweek for the most part.

    Expansion of the Women's Competition

Yeah, I agree they probably would stick to NRL sides to align them to. Just thought it would be a good way to bring in/back some of those clubs that we lost and use that nostalgia. I’d be keen to hear if a Bears fan would go and support a NRLW Bears team. A PNG women’s club would be interesting...

    Expansion of the Women's Competition

I’ll go first and suggest maybe that it doesn’t expand itself exactly along the same team lines of the NRL. Maybe this is where the Bears could be established and they could use NSO/Gosford as the comp becomes bigger/longer. Otherwise I would have to suggest either a Western Sydney team like...

    Expansion Team Names

Again, this is all hypothetical. I’m not actually advocating for the dragons to move, otherwise I would propose it in the relocation/rationalisation thread. This is purely a fantasy thread on what you would name a new team and/or where you would locate it. I want to make that clear so no one...

    Expansion of the Women's Competition

WIth the Women's National Championship playing at Burleigh, QLD over the period of 30 May - 2 Jun, the next question to ask is: As the women's talent pool expands, where does the NRLW expand to next?

    Expansion Team Names

What about the Adelaide Saints? I know that Saints is the Dragons secondary moniker but thought it played into the whole city of churches thing. Alternately (not saying this will happen or that I want it to happen) if St George move to Adelaide to become the Adelaide Saints.

    The player pool depth debate

On the reverse side, there are some average to below average players who just need the right coach to bring their potential out. I'm sure there are plenty of upcoming players in Canterbury Cup/ISC that are on the fringe of breaking into the NRL but just need the right kind of mentoring to bring...

    The player pool depth debate

I can’t agree more. We are in a talent rich part of the world for this sport. PNG, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, NZ are great recruiting areas for talented Rugby players who might not crack the national team in Rugby. Then there is the ESL. I’m not necessarily advocating poaching all the talent from the...

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

Was having a read of the article below about how the current NRL injury crisis is paving a way for creating more NRL experienced players, enough that it could almost create 2 whole new rosters. Could be an arguement for additional teams over relocating in the short term...

    This day 25 years ago........

Melbourne Tigers couldn't be a thing becasue the NBL already had the Melbourne Tigers team at the time. Would have had to be branded with a different name and most likely still would have been the Storm. The players from Tigers/Wests would have been re-rolled into this new team and the off cuts...

2 Conference competition, winner of each plays off in RLSuper bowl

In fact, here it is from 22 Feb this year....

2 Conference competition, winner of each plays off in RLSuper bowl

I tried to find my post but couldn’t find it or which of the many threads I may have put it it but I’m pretty sure I suggested this exact idea, including the names of the conferences in response to someone else’s idea.... maybe I should ask this guy for MY consultation fee :joy...

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

I don’t disagree with the need for more clubs but I’d prefer to see it go outside of NSW to start improving the talents in other regions. I like what the NRL VIC and NRL WA are doing with the Thunderbolts and Pirates respectively. Having them play regular footy against well established junior...

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

Not all individual moves are by choice, my friend. Some are out of the hands of the individual, as is in my case. If I could have stayed in Sydney then I would have, or had an option to come back then definitely. Unfortunately I have circumstances which stop that from happening. Doesn’t mean...

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

Absolutely! I used to be one of those who would run out on to Waverley Oval each weekend, or out of Henson Park playing in the Roosters HM’s squad. My club is my club and it has been that way forever, and will be that way forever. If I’m living in Sydney and that was the only way to see the...

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

Because either way you look at it, the players in the community and everything are gone if the club dies off completely. At least if my club was the only one out of 9 that was made to move then they’re still going to be in Sydney a few times through the year.

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

I used to live in the Eastern Suburbs. I know the attachment, but I’d rather have my club continue, albeit in another location, than disappear into the annals of rugby league history, never be seen again.

Todd Greenberg has pretty much said one Sydney team will be relocated.

I’m a Roosters fan and if my club HAD to move or risk being shut down for good then I would rather see them still running around than not at all. As long as there is still a throw back to the Easter Suburbs/Sydney side of the club then I’d be happy. This can even just be like the swans with SMFC...
