Michael Hagan, Brian Smith offer feud for thought

What really p!sses me off more than anything is the short shrift the game gets from TV coverage. I think the game undersells its self badly. If it was to get what it is worth from 9 and Fox the money would be there to pay players their true worth. Instead they get paid peanuts, and just to rub...

Michael Hagan, Brian Smith offer feud for thought

I agree, potato head definately knows what he's talking about and isn't affraid to say what he thinks. I never watch the Thursday footy show but decided I would this week just to see the fallout from SBW's departure. How lame was all the questioning?? honestly Andrew Voss was about as in depth...

Relieved Knight Ben Cross out of sight but still in mind

What labour?? Certainly knows all the right words to say, but that's all I've seen this year. I know people say he is a good influence at training etc, etc. But that hardley earns you an Australian jumper. Or maybe it does. Unless he really stands tall for the rest of the season I can't see that...

Jesse Royal and Matt White told to look elsewhere.

Well I think it's a good forum to get some of the fans views into print where there is a fair chance Smith and co will see it. I might send a letter to the editor supporting your view.

Jesse Royal and Matt White told to look elsewhere.

Congrats on getting the general viewpoint of the forum across in the paper today Mac (Crusade report) One things for sure Smithy will see that, weather it makes an impression on him is another thing. As you say in there lets hope it's not too late for a change of heart on his part as far as...

    Team v Parra?

I'll run down Hunter street naked (not a pretty sight) How Smith rates him over White, Royal, and Tolar is beyond me.

Uate in play: Smith keen to keep his options open

So how is that any different when Dureau isn't there? I would say it's even more so. Dureau will be the man for the 7 if he's given a decent crack at it. As someone said previously, when Dureau has been on the field in recent weeks we've scored points and looked like we can score points, when...

Jesse Royal and Matt White told to look elsewhere.

Exactly, pity Brian Smith doesn't see it that way.

Jesse Royal and Matt White told to look elsewhere.

White has shown potential ever since he first hit first grade. He's big, runs straight can play quality time, and is young. It was only a matter of time before he turned in a performance like yesterdays. We'll regret letting him go. I don't know who Smith sees as back-up props next season, we...

Wounded Wicks ruled out as Knights hunt Rabbitohs

If Smith is blaming Wicks efforts on this injury then Wicks must've been carrying this injury while he was at the Dragons as well.

    First Grade Knights vs Rabbitohs

    That'd be correct

    First Grade Knights vs Rabbitohs

Um-I've been pushing Dureaus' barrow for a lot longer than this season.

    First Grade Knights vs Rabbitohs

I'll add my 2 bobs worth Dureau has to be at 7 and Mullen 6 for the rest of this season (injury permiting) Mullen and Bailey in the halves just strangles our attack. With Dureau there we have another kicking option, and he is far more organised than either Mullen or Bailey.

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

I didn't say they were, I was pointing out what we've lost and what we replaced them with. I would dispute that we are the envy of every club these days, in the past yes, maybe that's the problem we live in the past.

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

The fact is though Perverse we have all ben saying the same thing every year for several years now,and it hasn't materialised, every year we say next year they will improve and they don't. It's not something that can be fixed overnight. How many threads come on these boards saying we should...

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

Realstically Newcastles recruitment has been poor for several years now. We have lost so many quality players and replaced them with ordinary rejects from other clubs, or the best in the real NRL (which in all honesty have not cut the mustard) to the point now where we have a team made up...

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

Yep have to agree, he's a solid player you can rely on.

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

I wouldn't class Mullen as a "marquee" player yet, and Cross certainly isn't. The only player we'll have next year that will get people excited about watching them is Gidley, that takes nothing away from Simmo, he obviously is a very important part of our team.

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

I don't really think this is anything new here in Newcastle. The only real signings we have ever made have been Kennedy, and to a lesser extent Parsons. In the past Johns took a large slice of our cap, so we were shackled a bit there. We were happy to sign local players from the real NRL, and...

    Recruitment - Newcastle's Version Of " Moneyball "

Good post Karma. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Your post I think sums up one of the reasons for our falling gates, and "hear a pin drop crowd support"
