Without data to back it up you are just guessing.

Does the NRL allow selling your home games directly to an opponent? (Magic Round and Sydney derbies aside)

I'm waiting for your apology. I guess League fans outside QLD aren't too enthused about a Broncos v Cowboys derby. Rank Description Network Reach Average BVOD 1 SEVEN’S AFL: FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Seven 1,966,000 744,000 113,000 5 FRIDAY NIGHT NRL LIVE Nine...

This might be true in NSW but not in Victoria. I guess it depends whether the NRL/Storm are content with a 28k cap or want to play games in front of 40k+ crowds...

I'm not actually disagreeing with you, these are good points. I just think 7 is way behind 9 in terms of promoting and improving its streaming service which is also a factor in the audience gap. This isn't just about NRL v AFL: MAFS has also seen a huge increase on the 9NOW streaming platform.

Of course they are more prepared to pay, there is no other choice. However anyone in SA/WA/NSW/QLD can watch their local AFL teams on FTA every weekend (albeit with some games on delay on Saturdays). League fans have been conditioned to subscribe to pay TV ever since Murdoch hijacked the code...

I have attended multiple Storm games, finals, State of Origin, A League, soccer internationals at the stadium and never had any visibility issues so maybe that's a you problem... Look I fully agree AAMI Park is better in terms of viewing but if the NRL wants to grow its crowds they need to...

Have you actually been to Marvel? Any seat on Levels 1 or 2 provides an excellent view. Level 3 is fine if you're in the first 10 or so rows.

As a Storm member I'd love the club to play its 3 biggest home games at Marvel Stadium which would enable crowds of up to 50k to become a possibility. However, the club doesn't want to give up its home field of AAMI Park which is understandable.

7+ didn’t have the rights to stream AFL in that period. Whenever a game was on the 7 or 7mate terrestrial broadcast, 7+ would show repeats of Border Security on that channel stream instead. 7+ only commenced streaming live AFL games starting with the 2024 Grand Final. Prior to that, Telstra...

The total average figure is inclusive of BVOD. The difference is only 32k.

Or watch it on Fox/Kayo instead which is what I believe is happening. It's a pity that DAZN has chosen to keep its ratings secret so everyone is in the dark.

What 100k shortfall? You're making up figures with no supporting data.

It's an indisputable fact that the difference between the two ratings results is BVOD. I'm offering an explanation as to why that may be the case. I don't work for the AFL or NRL and am a club member for teams in both leagues, so I'm an impartial observer.

I'm not congratulating or defending anybody. Just providing some context. I don't watch either code via FTA streaming but have found 7+ hard to use while watching other programmes, experiencing shows freezing and restarting randomly, whilst 9NOW offers a largely seamless experience.

Collingwood v Fremantle. It should be a great competitive match and will rate well

The only difference is in the ratings is BVOD. 7 needs to fix their 7+ platform as it is far behind 9NOW in terms of usability.

Next TV deal discussion 2028 -

"Meaningful" is a subjective term. Anyone who has represented Australia or Ireland in IR would tell you it has meaning to them. Union fans would say League International games are not meaningful compared to Bledisloe Cup tests so everything is relative.

    2026 Crowd Watch

It's not just the line markings, the Anzac Day AFL game is second only to the Grand Final in terms of catering, corporate events, security etc. You have a crowd of 90k+ leaving the stadium at 5.45pm, there are post match functions, players are in the rooms until 7-7.30pm, there is no logistical...

Storm will never have access to the MCG on Anzac Day for obvious reasons. But a few 45k blockbusters at Marvel would be good to see.
