    Two Props and a Halfback

    Yes a top class halfback is essential and in Firman and Byrne we have the 2 halfbacks from the jersey flegg GF a few years back. Wether they can progress to the next stage required we will have to wait and see but at least the club is mindfull of the need.

    How good is Riddell going at the moment. I'm sure he will be used as last week but is keeping the No 9 on his back as the Australian selectors would not pick a bench player for their team. He is fast approaching the No 1 spot for his position as Newcastle found out last week.

    Given that Kimmorley was about to signlate last year, we have lost Blacklock, Hooper, Kent, Ross and Smith and signed a Cronulla reseve grader, would I be right in assuming that the club will have a few dollars in the bank to purchase players for next season??

    Looking at the remaining draw it doesnt look good for Saints anyway. Newcastle twice, Roosters but the Northern Eagles home will bethe crunch game. There will be 3 teams going for 1 spot but even afterdoing the Maths they are not playing well enough to do any damage come Semi time anyway.

    Blacklock on Friday night

    Apparently Blacklock was not on great money with Saints even allowing for the upgraded contract he was given. He will find trouble with he size and lack of kicking game in the rah rahs. Heres hoping hes got an escape clause to go back where he belongs
