Why do you insult people whenever you’re wrong?

https://leagueunlimited.com/forum-rules/?url=/forumrules.php
Maybe because it’s just so easy to do to you and I’m not in fact wrong.
Editing is in fact editing, even if you don’t change the text you edit a quote down change the original context, it’s just what you do, no point denying it.

It’s just lazy trolling with little imagination.
It’s like how you bring up arguements from different threads time and time again even if they have nothing to do with the current disagreement, just lazy trolling.

But you see it as “winning” and I see it for what it is, “dog with a bone trolling”.
We shall agree to disagree, carry on.

We disagree on plenty OT - but this is 100% on the money. Everyone here is a fan, everyone here wants the team to be kicking arse, and everyone feels it when they’re the ones getting their arses kicked.
There’s plenty to debate and criticise and agree and cheer on and disagree and get pissed off about, and that’s all good. But questioning the true fan-ness of anyone is pretty pointless.

Agreed. I too disagree with OT often, but his post pretty much captures the essence of being part of the Dragon's faithful.

I'd even go one step further and suggest that terms like apologist, optimist, pessimist and curmudgeon (throw in my use of 'alarmist') shouldn't define the type or level of fan. Does it really matter if someone supports Mary or thinks we've been successful this year based on current results? Why label them as an apologist? I think these labels (along with "accepting mediocrity") are far too often used in a derogatory manner and shouldn't be needed to define the way someone supports the team. Debate points of view by all means, but no need to label or pigeonhole posters.

From my own personal point of view, I live in FNQ and get no value from Red V membership. The only games I can make with any regularity are the Townsville games and that still requires a multi-hour drive. Occasionally I'll try to make it to Brisbane for a game and have only ever been able to make it to 1 Kogarah game (which outside of any family related events, was by far the best and most memorable experience I've ever had).

The only way I can support the team financially is buying the jerseys - and I normally try to buy 1 a year (Yes I have heaps and a camphor wood chest almost full).

No, not at all. Quoting a select part of a post is a way to facilitate reply to a specific point..

I’m not sure why you get so precious over people quoting select parts of what you’ve said.. after all, how much easier was it to follow the conversation above compared to if I’d just quoted your entire wall of text like this:

Maybe because it’s just so easy to do to you and I’m not in fact wrong.

I’m sorry your thread didn’t turn out the way you’d hoped it would..

I hate the term “apologist” too. And the whole accepting mediocrity crap. What a load of garbage. No fan wants the Dragons to be mediocre.

Sure I’d love to have Bellamy as the coach, and the entire NSW backiline playing for the Dragons. But it doesn’t work that way.

I’ve given criticism when warranted . Most of 2012-2017 I often vented about Mary and the players because we were truly awful.

But I saw good signs this year, Millward put together a good squad, Good crop of juniors which are now showing what they can do. Mary has been a lot less shit than usual. We were absolutely flying the first 3 months of the season. 9-2 we were.

Yes we had a poor 6 weeks or so but here we are in the 2nd week of the semis. Something we haven’t seen for 7 years. And our reserves are in a prelim as well.

Doust is gone, our debt to the NRL about to be paid with more money coming through. If people still can’t see that there are positives from this year, then I don’t know what else to say.

But you don’t reply to the specific point, all you do is edit a quote out of its original context to promote a specific agenda that you just can’t seem to get past.
This is something you may need to see a specialist about.

I sure my long and detailed posts confuse you, not a feeling your unfamiliar with I’m sure, but if you can’t keep up with the game, get out of the game.

As to what I expected out of this thread, nothing, threads will go where they go, it’s thier nature.

But again I’ve gone to long, I shall try to be more succinct with you in the future.

I don''t agree with arguing amongst our own. We all support our club in many different ways and have many different views whether you are ticketed non ticketed, watch in lounge or at the ground and as being fans I think we have the right to express our views regarding players coaching recruitment and how the club is run because we are all invested in it,

Curious... What is out of context or agenda driven about the “quote editing” bit we’re discussing?

Seems pretty straight to the point to me.

Again, read the OP.
It’s not about how much money you can give to the club
So why do your poll options specifically relate to a financial contribution to the club?
No it doesn’t.
Oh yes it does. The entire premise of the OP is about whether one spends their hard earned on attending games every week.
The poll has a 'NO' option. That's me. I don't attend every game for reasons that are nobody's business but my own.

I actually flew up for the Cowboys game recently. Anybody that didn't do the same isn't as good a fan as I am.

BGB, if this thread is all about having a dig at a certain troll, please reconsider next time. You're better than that.

Yeh I support St George since going to Kogarah with my family in the early 70's, St George Illawarra and have a jersey and go to some games where I can and cant support another NRL team. I reckon that makes me a true fan.

IMO there's no such thing as a "true" fan, either you are or you are not. Supporting a sportman, sportwoman or a team doesnt mean you have to invest money or time in them. There are many examples of fans who are true supporters. I'm a Liverpool fan in the EPL but i dont go to their games. That would make me not a "true" fan? I'm a fan of Roger Federer, but again I dont go to watch his games.

I suppose too, the 90yr old life long supporter of the Dragons is also not a "true" fan now.

Or maybe someone with a disability for whatever reasons, isnt a "true" fan because he/she cant physically or mentally get to games.

I could go on......

To allude to the fact tha a "true" fan wouldnt criticize the team or say negative comments about this player or that player is ludicrous. In fact it's more that these people are so invested in the team or the player that they feel the need to say something. If they weren't a fan why would they bother?

Everyone is different some a quiet and unassuming people and do and say nothing While others maybe have more emotion and feel the need to speak out. This does not make them any less of a fan than anyone else.

Fortunately or unfortunately social media has become the essence of a society nowadays. What used to be hidden in Smoky hotels and conversation just between mates having a beer has now become open for all whether friend or Foe.

So what is a "true" fan? You be the judge.

Perfectly put.
Great analysis.

Your points are considered but in my opinion you are not right.
The point was all about our right to criticise poor performances.
The poll may not be worded correctly, but I get the point

OMG!!! BGB just edited Muzby's post!

Seriously though, I did the sums and I spent $10 on the team this year! That's ok, I've spent my fair share over the years.

In saying that I applaud anyone who flew up to Brisbane for the last game. To shell out money and sit among a mob of rabid queenslanders when the odds were stacked against us takes some dedication. You deserved it.

Brisbane? Jeez I applaud anyone that makes the trip to Shark Park and stands anywhere near the Downunder Bar, it's full of drunken obnoxious losers throwing up all over the place and starting fights, and that's just the women.

I had a couple of Brisbane mates come down to a Sharks game couple of weeks ago, got blind, they are Sharks supporters after all, and got refused entry to the Leagues Club, mainly because they couldn't walk, cab up to Northies, straight in the door.
