That's the second time I've seen Slater throw what could be a great pass (back in the first half) over the sideline. That is silly dumb school boy stuff. You're supposed to get the man not the sideline.

Thats it just blame Slater it was all his fault, yep his fault the forwards couldnt make more then 30m in a set, his fault none of the QLDers could tackle, his fault the halves had no f**king idea.

Hoffman should have got MOM. Quinn was good, but if a couple of passes stick for QLD and he suddenly has a bad game in defence.

Slater had an average game but to be fair Bellamy found a way to take his explosiveness out of the game... Kick it to him have a super kick chase and hit him hard, after about 5 hard hits he was dead for the rest of the match.

Slater is a known choker in the origin arena. Besides 2 bullsh*t tries from an offside play and clear knock on, this bloke has been a non-event at rep level.

Hunt will be back there for game 2, with Prince or lockyer in the halves (i'd pick Prince regardless of if Lockyer is fit tbh)

NSW will make the mistake of not changing their halves combo and lose by plenty in game 2 IMO. Bird is a great player, but NSW would only be better for having both him AND anasta in the side (or carney for that matter)

Atleast we finally have a halfback the looks like he knows what he is doing.

Question is especially last year were qld really that good they had a star lineup last year and were pretty ordinary in all 3 games. NSW just lost there way in game 1 and Game 2 they took forever to put us away and we had Kimmorley and game 3 we beat them.

It's all different now though that the next game is up there though.

The pass that Slater threw over the sideline, IMO, Tate was at fault for not pushing up and seeing it coming. If he was aware of what was unfolding, he was away. He was woeful tonight. The NSW chargedown and him then subsequently throwing a bullsh*t miracle ball on tackle 1 that went forward, nearly resulted in a Tui stubbie going through my TV. He is $hit, along with 10min Webb. Webb should be called "The Pizza", full of fat and only takes 15 mins before you have to take him out of the "Heat"............

I think QLD really missed Lockyer out there tonight. They rushed alot of plays in attack and seemed desperate at times.

Slater and Smith were crap I grant that.
But Hunt and Thurston?
They were the only b*stards on the park trying desperately.

Hunt is out of position,it was never going to work - Let's be realistic.
The fact is NSW had superior,superior defence and Queensland was no way in shape or form ready for that.

Slater,choked and was absolutely horrible - He's been given two tries now and it's apparent that this problem isn't going away.
I've never been one to say Hunt owns the fullback spot,but he needs it back for game 2.

Smith was nothing,what is it with useless hooker captains?

I knew we'd lose this one,I had a feeling about it.
We'll see about the whole series.

Take off the Cowboys goggles. Thurston had a shocker, you don't get points for effort in Origin only for execution and Thurston failed all night long in this area.. His kicking game was completely off and we lacked any direction all night. Prince has to be brought in now and you wouldn't get any complaints from me if Thurston got cleaned out of the halves along with Hunt.

Also I said it last night and I'll say it again, Carl Webb needs to be pissed off from Origin for good. Easily the biggest overrated nuffy in the game.

NSW were heavily defensive tonight and you think Prince would have stood more of a chance.

Club footy and Origin are two different things as I said look at Slaters form...and look at the game we just watched.

But I think he'll be in the side next game,Slater won't.

How could Prince go any worse than Hunt and Thurston? Hunt was always a gamble and was out of position but Thurston can't afford to put in performances like that with Prince and Cronk hot on your heals.

Ultimately though the player we're really missing is Lockyer, we really missed his composure and service out wide.

Just to add to that, Lockyer was expected to be out 4-6 weeks after the surgery and Origin 2 would be the 5 week mark. Personally if he's ready to play then he's got to be there even without a game under his belt, even if you just stick him on the bench.
