Slater and Smith were crap I grant that.
But Hunt and Thurston?
They were the only b*stards on the park trying desperately.

Hunt is out of position,it was never going to work - Let's be realistic.
The fact is NSW had superior, superior defence and Queensland was no way in shape or form ready for that.

Slater, choked and was absolutely horrible - He's been given two tries now and it's apparent that this problem isn't going away.
I've never been one to say Hunt owns the fullback spot, but he needs it back for game 2.

Smith was nothing, what is it with useless hooker captains?

I knew we'd lose this one,I had a feeling about it.
We'll see about the whole series.

I see you're up to your usual tricks. You're always so quick to bag players of another team but when someone does the same to yours you bitch and moan like nobody's business. Face it, Thurston was just average tonight and Webb, well i think we all saw he did sweet FA.

Billy had a shocker there's no two ways about it and will be lucky to keep his spot but i think he will and will repay that faith in spades. Smith was quiet by his standards after being negated by a brilliant Bellamy game plan, it happens to the best players from time to time and you have a very short memory when it comes to what he's done for QLD in the past. Were you as hard on Bowen during his mostly forgettable stint at Origin? Of course not. The bottom line is QLD as a whole were shut down by that same brilliant game plan of Bellamy's and his players executed it to perfection.. Just more proof he's the best coach in the game.

I know you don't like people giving their opinions especially about the cowboys but i will anyway. I said all along that Prince should've been selected and seeing Thurston's game last night just re-inforced that. He was just barely ok and i'm probably being generous there, only marginally better than the game he played for Australia (which wasn't hard as he was sh*t in that) but barely ok just doesn't cut it in Origin.

Prince will definitely come in and while i can't predict where he'll play, JT would want to lift his game substantially in game 2 or Prince might find himself in the position that he deserved in the first place. I guess he's lucky he has incumbency on his side. Stop trying to deflect the attention from the bloke who was leading QLD on the park and had a very average game by putting the spotlight on other players. He wasn't good enough last night so just admit it.

Haven't read the rest of the thread so apologies if it's already been mentioned... but Thurston was absolutely woeful. Easily the worst on the park last night. Slater did all that was asked of him, but no more... and Hunt... did he even play?

Next game, Queensland need to go in with:

1. Slater
6. Prince
7. Cronk

or they are deadset kidding themselves. Thurston is completely out of form and not worthy of an Origin spot.

QLD missed Priceys go forward.

There was some real slow play of the balls and if last night was a regular NRL game then I reckon a good 5-10 more penalties would have been given.

And when are Smith and Buderus going to duke it out instead of just pushing each other every play of the ball?

It's got nothing to do with the Cowboys.

I don't see how people think Thurston was with the worst on field, who was he support player?
Who did he bomb support to?

Nobody.
Because everybody is the team were pretty woeful and it's stupid just to lay the blame on one person.
As for Scott Prince well I think he should be on the side, but I don't think people should be bagging Thurston until Scott Prince goes in there and does it better(which he may do but it hasn't happened yet).

Slater has confidence issues, yes like Matty Bowen - You could see it in the Centenary Test but because Australia was so damn talented he calmed down.
But he didn't tonight, and if you're playing representative football you need to be able to hose the nerves and just get on with it - I don't think he did.

I wish people would stfu about biased or whatever, you need to open your eyes and look at the game.
A lot of players played bad not just one or two and then you can't expect those one or two to light the world on fire when the others weren't either.

Might wanna ask Hoffman if Hunt played.

:O How dare anyone attack your precious Thurston

His kicking game was ordinary, he got put on his ass numerous times, he showed a vast lack of spark. The QLD fans I was sitting with were wondering why he was there... and think about it.

The Queensland halfback is currently the halfback and captain of the team running 15th.

The better option is currently playing in the team leading the competition. Hell, Cronk even deserves a go IMO, and he's steering the side running 4th.

If I was a QLD selector and wanted a backline to actually challenge NSW this time:

1 Bowen
2 Hunt
3 Hodges
4 Folau
5 Inglis
6 Prince
7 Cronk

Thurston has done enough to warrant not being selected IMO, and that's coming from an opposition fan.

That's rich coming from you!

If a lot of players had a bad game then name them ALL. From what i've seen the only two you've bagged were Slater and Smith when you left out the most glaringly obvious in Thurston. The only one that couldn't see that he had a very average game was you. Oh and you also left out that myth Webb.

Not biased...........

I swear they played Origin a few players short last night.

Ben Cross, Greg Inglis, PJ Marsh, Jacob Lillyman, Danny Buderus, Anthony Tupou... did they actually turn up at the stadium?

Brent Tate,Cameron Smith,Carl Webb,PJ Marsh to name a few...

No,you're not listening to me,I think Thurston played bad as well but I don't think he should be blamed solely for it when there were others who weren't crap as well.

As in the whole team were useless and that can't possibly all Thurston's fault.
People have the gall to call me biased when there's heaps of Storm fans doing the same with Slater, but that's different right?

Apparently the Queensland chairman of selectors thinks that Hunt had a great game, and did everything that he was picked to do. I'd hate to see him have a bad game then.

Yep. I would've tagged Inglis as QLD's best back last night, Tate was rubbish IMO.

he must have been one of the top meter earners last night. got some go forward out of dummy half. folau and inglis were both very quiet.
