Well that's fair enough.this was in the prime of his career. im pretty sure it was 2000 (the year after melbourne won the premiership) that noddy was picked in the #7 for NSW and joey was thrown around all over the place for the next couple of years... from hooker... to impact benchie... etc etc...
he had already carved his legend in 1997 and was already considered the best player in the game. it was around this time that he really started to mature as footballer and go from excellent player into one of the greats.
daley spent time in the centres at origin level. fittler played lock. i can't think of any QLD examples because, to be perfectly honest, i don't give 2 sh*ts about your team. i do, however, give a sh*t about selectors not rewarding players who thoroughly deserve it, regardless of allegiance, as it sends a piss poor message to players that could potentially realise their dream of playing origin football. there have been many, many others in origin who have had to step out of their precious little comfort zone to account for someone who has earned selection through form, determination, skill... or all of the above. i'd love to know why thurston thinks he's above it.
I'm sure Thurston doesn't think he's above it but he probably doesn't want to give up the number he has been playing and been successful at for a number of years for a player who is playing in form currently.
I'm sure Slater would prefer to be at fullback rather than wing and I wouldn't see Danny Buderus being too pleased to be shafted to the bench to accommodate Robbie Farah.
Like I said I would have liked Thurston/Prince half combination - But Prince at 5/8.
And as I said,it's not a fact of selectors not rewarding good form.
They're not going to make everyone happy they obviously think that Thurston/Prince would be a case of too many cooks.
