im sure the last try, the foot (back one) touched the line, doesnt matter, had no effect on the outcome, only manly's for and against, but if orfords try gets disallowed, how'd that one get b.o.d????

Possibly a question most league fans will be pondering for many a week to come.

Good win. We have enough character to be there when it counts. Whether we can win it or not is another discussion.

It was a good win, though the score indicated they were better than they really were, Archer tried hard to help them

Yeah I looked at the start of the thread and he wasn't named. They had an article in the Manly Daily saying he might be back this week. He'll probably take a while to get back into it though, so no surprise that he's not there.

Stewart in the mix

MANLY second rower Glenn Stewart needs the game of his life tomorrow night against the Bulldogs to bolt into the Country Origin squad on Sunday night.

The 24-year-old is on a short-list of back-rowers vying for selection for the annual clash with City next month.

Country Rugby League boss Terry Quinn told The Manly Daily Stewart needs a special performance against the Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval tomorrow night to get the nod.

"He's definitely a contender and is on our (short) list," Quinn said.

"Selectors tend to look at overall form, not just one game, so he's definitely in the mix."

Sea Eagles winger Michael Robertson is also locked in a battle against Joel Monaghan and Anthony Quinn for a Country berth.

The 25-year-old Manly winger needs to maintain his great touch to snare his maiden representative jumper.

Country assistant coach Paul McGregor said Robertson has impressed with his feats and is a contender.

"He can find the try line," the former NSW and Australian centre said. "Every match I watch, he stands out."

Stewart this week revealed an off-season spent recuperating from ankle surgery was behind his slow start to 2008.

But the young forward rocked back into contention with a strong effort over the Eels last Friday night.

"I didn't have the best pre-season, there was certain things out of my hands but I'm not making any excuses," Stewart said. "I had a couple of niggling injuries but I'm sort of getting on the other side of that now and looking upwards.

"I'm feeling fitter and my ankle's getting better with every game."

Robertson said he was aware of speculation over his possible selection for Country but was not getting carried away.

The Sea Eagles expect winger Michael Bani (neck) to play in tomorrow evening's round seven clash with the Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval.

Your kidding right he was hopless tonight gave the sea eagles a million sets on the doggis line in the first half when the dogs should have gotten a few penalties...

"He can find the try line," the former NSW and Australian centre said.

Well, you'd hope that any professional rugby league player could do that.

And as for City-Country, it lost all credibility when Sam Harris made the City team in 2004.

He was a very ordinary player.

Tim Sheens was the last on the planet to realise that during 2006.

He was actually playing well in early in 2004, however a player should not earn a rep jumper on 6 weeks good form when they have been ordinary for many more games beforehand.

Yeah we were, think we won round 1 against the Cows then lost 5 or so on the trot, however what does that have to do with an individual playing well?
