Haha, not really mate, I'd obviously love my team to win every game... I just think the Dragons are too good for us at the moment, putting my bias aside.

That said, I'll be there screaming as loud as I can for our boys. :D

You'd have to think Cooper will take Stanleys spot and he'll be out of the team all together and that Smith will take Saffy's spot on the bench. He's been out of the game a while so his fitness won't be the greatest and they'll ease him in as Penrith will with Lewis.

I'd say Green will drop off for Smith.
Saffy might be dropped for Stanley (to cover Cooper).

That would leave us with a side like this:
Boyd
Morris
Scott
Cooper
Sailor
Sowie
Hornby

Poore
Young - think he will start at hooker
Weyman
Prior - think he will start at 2nd row
Creagh
Costigan

Hunt
Smith
Stanley / Saffy
Fien

Green
Saffy / Stanley

That's probably our strongest side since about round 4

Why is it the Panthers that have to go up against what is practically a full strength Dragons side? Couldn't you guys have waited a week and actually given us a chance?

Our side is close to full strength. My only changes for a full strength side would be having Junior Tia Kilifi and Petero Civoniceva in the side at the expense of Brad Tighe and Maurice Blair. Ontop of having Luke Lewis inside the top 17 at the expense of Joseph Paulo probably.

ie.
1. Jarrod Sammut
2. Junior Tia Kilifi
3. Michael Jennings
4. Michael Gordon
5. Shane Elford
6. Wade Graham
7. Luke Walsh
8. Frank Puletua
9. Paul Aiton
10. Petero Civoniceva (c)
11. Gavin Cooper
12. Trent Waterhouse
13. Luke Lewis

14. Frank Pritchard
15. Nathan Smith (meh)
16. Matt Bell
17. Tim Grant

The Dragons club and supporters are absolutely wonderful in the way they're helping make this a massive event for the Panthers 1000th game. The Dragons are definitely going to show up tomorrow, and all we need for this to be an excellent game is for the Panthers to show up and focus on this game for the entire 80 minutes.

interesting side Graeme bradley and colin ward both played for penrith as well.
just a question to older dragon fans mark blackburn was he the one that got punted by st george for throwing his jersey to the ground after getting replaced

Stanley can cover the forwards as well, when you have Young starting hooker and moving to the backrow allows for a more versatile bench. That being said Creagh, Costigan and Prior have played in the 3/4 line during the season so we are covered there as well

The Dragons lead in the premiership combined with their for and against is such that they would have to lose at least three of their remaining five games to not take the minor premiership- and they have only 1 game against a Top 8 side after this one. This game won't quite wrap up the minor premiership for them, they'd have to win one or two more, and losing has no real consequences.

Under these circumstances a team is playing for pride just as much as the Roosters are. I wonder if the Dragons will be wanting to go the extra metre to win this game if the Panthers really put it to them, or will they be happy to conserve themselves. Time will tell.

Soward keeps quiet over rumours he'll be rested

Glenn Jackson | August 7, 2009

LATE MAIL

There have been suggestions St George Illawarra coach Wayne Bennett was considering resting five-eighth Jamie Soward for tonight's clash with Penrith.

Soward has been nursing a shin injury suffered against Melbourne last Friday night, and only took part in light training yesterday.
When contacted last night, Soward - one of the form players in the competition - did not deny that he might not play against the Panthers, referring the Herald to the club's media officials. "I can't even tip you off about that," he said.

Bennett does have options at his disposal. With Jeremy Smith returning from an ankle injury, he has an extra back-rower, which might allow Dean Young to play five-eighth. Hooker Nathan Fien could also be shifted into the halves.

Jon Green has dropped off the extended Dragons bench.

Penrith are almost certain to have both Luke Lewis (broken toe) and Frank Pritchard (shoulder) available for the game after both trained well this week.

This wouldn't surprise me at all if it did happen. The Dragons have the minor premiership all but wrapped up and he is carrying an injury. Good time to let him freshen up and see how the team travels without him.

As a Penrith fan it'd be good in a way, though I'd prefer to see how our team stacks up against a full strength Dragons side.

If they do rest him though. The Dragons would of been better off taking the not guilty plea and clearing his points had he lost.
