You just answered your own question

His hands were defending himself from Rogers. The knee wasn't defense, it was offense.

I sympathize with Vidot, but the knee is an issue

I do understand the issue with the knee. At least from some people. (I don't really see much difference between a knee and a punch)

Vidot had tied up Rogers, but lets face it.... he had punched him in the knockout spot 3 times AT LEAST before Vidot even lifted his hands. Vidot would have been at the very least close to knocked out.

He would not have been thinking rationally. He would have been worried about being punched a few more times. It cracks me up that people are expecting him to think rationally in this scenario.

I don't think it says players are not allowed to protect themselves if attacked

It says no kneeing. Still don't see how you are not getting this? Rogers should have been off, Vidot should have gotten 10 minutes. Just because the refs got Rogers decision wrong doesn't mean Vidot should stay on the field.

I think I have said this before but the ref sent them both to the bin so he would agree with you. However you seem to be claiming he should be allowed to knee a player and get no punishment.

vidot shouldn't have been punished for just defending himself.

rogers threw the first punch

agreed
my issue is they didnt sin bin him for the knee, they sin binned him for retaliating, granted they didnt specify which part of the retaliation so it could have been the knee, and if they did, fair game and ill retract this remark but if, as isuspect they've binned him for retaliation with fists, thats a completely rubbish decision

Left the game 20 minutes early. F**king disgraceful performance, dropped the ball continuously, couldn't defend kicks and no go forward. Where was Gidley? He should be running off De Gois to pick up offside or tired forwards around the ruck. Mullen f**king woeful, atrocious kicking game and his running game that was so effective last week was nowhere to be seen. The first time he even remotely tested the defence by running the ball, he put Sau through a hole to score, go figure. Uate useless. Naiqama, piss off. Of all the s**t dished up though, the most disappointing was the lack of heart. We were playing to secure our place in the finals! It's so damn frustrating. This is the one Knights game I can go to each year, last year it ended our season and this year look what happens.

Explain to me what the difference was between what Weyman did to Conn last year and those shots from Rogers??? None....

As for Vidot, the knee didnt even f**king connect, intent or not, it shouldnt have any more than the 10 minutes he got....ffs if soward can get off with tripping a bloke

We really got dominated in the forwards. Our forwards looked really small out there....like really small. Maybe it was just in comparison to the big Raiders pack? I know we are missing Cross and Tolar but yeah, forwards were hammered. Also, referreeing was pretty poor for us. By know means crucial but De Gois couldn't buy obvious offside penalties when running from dummy half. The push of Tongue! that's not a penalty the bloke was barely touched! Then penalised for a "late hit" on the kicker McCrone. We got unfairly penalised on a number of occassions. The refereeing though will always be sub-standard. Hence why I'm more focussed on my team's p*ss poor performance.

I'm glad Rogers did what he did. Good shot too

Someone had to take matters into their own hands. The two blokes masquerading in pink had no idea...

One of only two good things that came out of the game. The other being Wicks giving a start to Monaghan and nearly running him down over 50 metres  Play was called back though.

The protection of kickers has gone completely over the top, resulting in ridiculous penalties like that "late hit" on McCrone. sure, kicker have to be protected from late, high hits but any contact this season results ina penalty. Commonsense has gone out the window on this one this season. Lucky we've got Robert Finch to step in and fix it...

to be honest i think it's appropriate that the raiders got a turn on the good end of the stick with the refs tonight. the knights weren't going to win with the refs on their side or not... and at least skeepe can't possibly have a whinge that they were dudded.

although i guess i am regretful that i will miss out on the post-match referee wrist-slashing report from ol' skeepe.

Shillo was massive today. Justifys his pay packet with performances like that. Wont see a better front row performance all year i recon.

That McCrone penalty was a joke. Another one of those dumb rules that im certain is going to play a bad role in a finals loss...

If he could throw a punch he would have knocked Vidot out. He hit him at least three times before Vidot knew what was happening and all three landed on the chin.

I would put them down as the worst punches of the year tbh. You would at least want to put the guy on his arse but Vidot still managed to clinch him.
