The third umpitre is deadset kidding isn't he? The bloke has tried to catch the ball while they were trying to run him out. Quite clearly obstructing the field.

Yeah just heard that. Apparently the third ump gives them feedback on what happened. I'm not sure what else he could have said other than his hand went up and deflected the ball. I'm not sure what Bowden was doing, but then again he's a fairly ordinary umpire.

Just read the law out. Doesn't meet the definition for obstructing the field, but surely that is handling the ball.

Handling the ball I believe is more if you stop the ball hitting the wicket for a bowled, rather than running between the wickets.

happened in our club game a month or so back, batsman picked up the ball and threw it to the other team, assshole captain appealed and umpire had to give it out, our batsman wanted to fight the whole team

pretty funny in hindsight but our batsman was seeing red when he came off
