I just don't understand leaving out Jarrod Hayne. Would QLD punt Slater if he had been in pretty average from in the NRL? Hayne is a match winner. He has won games by himself for Parramatta. He is surrounded by rubbish there. Dugan is a mighty impressive player as well. I would have had them both in.

Might be a crazy idea but Hayne at 5/8 could have been a wildcard selection. He has a very dangerous running game, and long kicking game and can find a pass. I'm just baffled how they could leave a player of that quality out.

The rest has been said. I think it's a poorly selected side that will lose 3-0

When you look back on the side that won NSW last Origin series and what became of them you can understand why they haven't been as competitive as they should have been...

Just look at what became of players like...

Anthony Minichiello
Matt King
Mark Gasnier
Matt Cooper - Just to spell it out, plagued by injuries and was never as potent as he used to be.
Timana Tahu
Steve Simpson

Combine that with players like Brett Stewart and Greg Bird as well as some of the really bad selections (2009 especially) that hurt NSW.

Then again in hindsight a halves combo of Anasta and Gower, the two originally groomed players, was hardly inspiring. Also selecting and dumping Mullen and Campese within one game was pretty stupid.

Mullen had a shoulder re-construction after game 1 the year he played. His form after that probably didn't warrant re-selection. Campese probably should have been stuck with, although I'm not quite sure he ever really warranted getting picked either.

Gasnier is in the best form we've seen since 2005, he's a more complete player since then as well.

That came later Firey, he suffered a minor injury against the Broncos when Newcastle were absolutely annihilated at Suncorp but was back in time for Origin 2 and was dropped for Kimmorley who could do a job but could never win you a match and wasn't the answer for the future. Mullen should have been afforded an opportunity, if Joey was given an entire series despite a woeful debut against the worst Qld side on paper Mullen deserved a full series after an indifferent game against one of the best Qld sides.

And what do you mean Campese didn't deserved to get picked in the first place? Back in the opening rounds of 2009 who would you have selected?

I think we can definitely agree the worst decision was to snub Soward altogether in 2010. To make matters worse, he wasn't even selected for the Country side.

He was the only option at the time, I don't begrudge selectors for not persisting with him though. Campese was a flash in the pan in those years, I don't think he has been a rep quality player since. Even back then it was debatable. He's still living off the hype from that half a season 4 years ago.

As for Mullen, I thought he there was doubt over his fitness at the time, he played one game and was ruled out for the season?

I don't think persistence has been NSW's problem, its been their tendency to buy into the media hype around players. It's caused them to make poor selections, then we get people saying they don't show any loyalty when in all reality the players shouldn't have been there in the first place.

While I'm far from a fan of Campese I thought his early 2009 form still warranted selection in an otherwise sub-par Canberra side that lacked experience on and off-the field. To select him for one game and dump him out for Barrett is quite possibly one of THE dumbest moves the selectors made.

As for Mullen, I thought he there was doubt over his fitness at the time, he played one game and was ruled out for the season?

I might need to research this further. He did play the round following Origin but hadn't played a game after the game against Brisbane. I believe if he was selected he would have played though. He played 3-4 more games before he really hurt his shoulder and had to get the shoulder re-con.

How about both?

It's seen the likes of Farah dropped for Ennis.

Farah for Ennis, Hayne for Morris and Tolman for King. Good side otherwise and we will push the toads hard this year

I agree there are a few props who should of got the spot over King, but people are going on like he is a bad player, he has been pretty decent this year.

after thinking it through and thinking well even though hayne deserved to be there somewhere im happy he is playing for us against sharks.

1 player id shift from the bench is ben creagh...and bring lewis on

dead set creagh is a powder puff...yeah he may be playing well for dragons (as he has the previous times hes picked for NSW) he tends to really take a back step for nsw apart from that final game last year he had a decent hit out.

lewis shouldve been there ahead of him

I'm a Manly fan and even I think some other props should be there over King - he has a good year but not fantastic. Tolman or Weyman should be there.

Maybe I'm living in my own little dreamland, but I actually think NSW are a chance next Wed night. No Inglis or Hodges certainly helps.

Of course we're a chance, the only people saying we aren't are people filthy with selections and arrogant qld "fans" (mainly ring-ins, like the team)

Will be a cracker
