Two things.

How was that not a charge-down?
And, if it was a penalty, what was the penalty for?

I'm sorry Panthers, but the referees just cost the Eels a win and whilst you guys definitely didn't give up, none of that should have ever happened. It should have been over as soon as Burt picked up the ball off the charge-down.

That pushover try should have not been given.

Coote held him long enough for it to be deemed a no try.

The refs in the first half were caning Penrith which I suppose was fair enough, but they did ignore the same principles when Parra were applying the same indiscretions especially in the play the ball ruck.

How long before Matt Elliott is coaching the c**ks?
Before the start of 2012, I'm certain of that much

The refs were terrible for both teams tonight. Huge 10 meters, but both teams stood way in front of the refs. Parra got the better of the ruck calls, and there was one standout poor decision against both teams that led to two tries. Standard fare for the NRL these days. Say what you want about the refs, a full set with one minute to go Parra should have closed that out.

Still so so stoked with that. We were average but showed awesome heart to stay in that. My voice is shredded.

Regardless, the Eels were the better team on the night and had it won; there is no way in the world any other referee would made those two calls.
If it WAS a change-over, then why was time called off? And if it was a penalty, what was the penalty for?
And did they miss the fact that it was quite CLEARLY a charge-down?
I'll give big credit to Penrith for never giving up but they do not deserve to have the two points after what happened in the 80th minute.

Jared Maxwell must be immediately sacked after this game.
Incredibly inept

That other peanut was worse. The refereeing has been terrible this year. Players laying in the ruck, players not getting back. Forward passes missed quite terrible.

How come that McGuire try given & when Thaiday did similar last week it was no try?

Well, I just re-watched the last play.

It definitely wasn't a charge down. Maxwell called the change over and then Ben Smith started running away with the football, hence the stopping of the clock. Seems like a legit call to me.

Maxwell just choked under pressure.

There is no explanation for calling time off with 2 seconds to go for a change over.

Ridiculous call.

Well deserved Penrith better team on the night

Rubbish.

They scored early and then after that they only got across the line once using their normal attacking options. The other two tries came from an unlucky dropped ball by Parra after the guy was hit in the head (i don't think it was a penalty though) and a freak try where they just had to keep throwing it about and hope for the best.

Even after that psychological blow the Eels still got back on their feet and had the first shots at field goal.

Penrith did well to hang in there, but they got extremely lucky. If any number of things hadn't bounced exactly their way they would have been beaten by 6-10.

You mean if they played someone better than Parramatta?
