FMD Purtell is sh*t though. Yet some members over at PI still think he had a decent game with a bit of bad luck. They even had him picked as MOTM last week despite doing nothing except a few offloads. They must feel bad for him or something. If he's not our worst player on any given day he's playing above his potential IMO.

I think it's a form of trolling. Every time he's even close to first grade standard they overcompensate and throw it in the face of those that think he's rubbish. Someone over there even had him close to Lewis and Petero. Ffs he wasnt even our best winger.

Probably a bit of pity for a guy who does try his best tbf.

I hope that's all it is. The same people who vote for him were people bitching that Flash Gordon nearly always dominated the votes. I think his worst game would still be better then the best Purtell has played.

But whether it's trolling or not. Those votes are going to a player who isn't first grade standard. He obviously tries hard, but no matter how hard he tries he's clearly out of his depth. A decent winger would have been able to bust the line open a score a try or two with the service he and Simmons were getting.

If Michael Gordon got that sort of ball when he was on the wing he would score 2 or 3 tries a game. I just hope we continue to spread it when we get Jennings back... that's the sort of ball which will get him back to his try scoring best.

Congrats to the Panthers. Thankfully a bye next week so the Cowboys can get back into gear and get back on the winning track again too many errors cost the Cows not good enough if the Cows want to stay in the top 4 let alone the top 8.

It was a pretty good quality game today. Some good tries, big hits. The mid-table is getting bunched. Good to see

Surely we have the slowest wingers in the history of NRL. Plenty of ball in space yet got run down everytime. That's what's stopping us for running up a big score. Not enough pace to take us away or last passes going to ground

For me the best thing about that was the crowd at the game actually seemed to be enjoying the way we were playing rather than just the fact we were winning.

Agreed. We spread it at the 3rd tackle of the game the crowd was standing & cheering. All those kids prob 2-3k can easily be Panthers/League fans for life. Good work by all

I just checked out PI since a few of you were talking about it, some interesting views to say the least. One poster suggested that Simmons should be resigned on an upgraded contract....

Good win for the Panthers, if it wasn't for Purtell you would have won by at least 20, maybe more.

What a terribly disappointing game to watch from the perspective of a Cowboys supporter. Insipid really, was the play on offer from the North Queenslanders.

Luke Lewis on the other hand is a joy to watch, such a terrific competitor, and his efforts inspired his side in a very good performance.

There's very little that can be said after that game. MY only hope is that a portion of the blame can be laid at a disrupted preparation. The Thurston judiciary saga must have taken its toll on the man and club, and we are missing several key players.

These factors however shouldn't influence some very ordinary decisions being taken by members of the side. They simply are not playing to their strengths. It truly baffles me. How on earth do they expect to compete with the premiership contenders in this competition if they do not use what works best. Time and again I'm seeing really dumb plays.

Example - last tackle on the Penrith line James Segeyaro, a dummy half, chooses to send it to the short right side to a front-rower as first reciever. Sims then makes a pressured pass that he lacks the skills to make, it's intercepted and the play is then sent way downfield and Penrith are allowed good field position and are on the attack.

This is one of many from yesterday.

It's becomes more difficult to fathom because we seem to be getting worse as the season progresses. Neil Henry has some very serious work to do at this point. Payne looks like he'll be out for some time now, so Segeyaro will have a lot of responsibility on his hands. He's got to start taking some better options and our attack must be focused on areas where we can pressure opposing defenses.

A horrible game to watch but Penrith were deserved winners.

Take Luke Lewis, Petero, Grant and McKendry out of the Penrith side and Cowgurls win by 20.

Penrith surely has the worst backline in the NRL.

Well yeah yesterday's backline was ordinary but with Gordon and Jennings it's 100% better.

Good win yesterday, would've won by alot more if it wasn't for Purtell  Still when you're outside the 8 you take any win you can get.
