On reflection, perhaps I expected too much from the Knights round 1 ... ho hum ... Newcastle looked to lack commitment and even fitness in patches

Pretty much got what I expected from the Dragons and saw nothing to change my mind on their plight for the year ... a 9th to 12th finish

but congrats to all you Dragon fans ... a first up win away in Newcastle is nothing to be sneezed at ... lots will lose there this year

how long did they take to pack scrums tonight ? disgraceful
what about that Jamie Soward non-knockon near halfway very late in the game ... disgraceful decision and swung the game

Oink !

 Mixing us up with Brisbane Piggy?

And plenty of worse calls have gone against the saints than a questionable pick-up from Soward. Didn't change a thing.

it was a dud call and Saints then camped in Newcastle's half for quite a while after ... thought it was a big game changer at the time

We'll be in the 8 mate ... you know it :D

Oink !

How the f**k did Tahu not get sent off? A deliberate knee to the face, I'm sorry but the ref bottled it. That is a send off 100 times out of 100.

To make matters worse, he plays a key role in the Knights drawing level when he shouldn't have been on the field.

That one call nearly completely turned the match. Disgraceful that refs are so cowardly these days.

i'm gonna go out on a limb here but that was very predictable to watch, both teams use that fking sweeping 2nd man play which involves the fullback linking up with the winger/centre

they should call that the "wayne bennett" play, yes i'm a brisbane fan and i'm more then aware we used it for seasons on end but fk me, it's the only thing that looked like resulting in a try tonight, I expected more from the knights, I dont know how much better the saints can play but we can all agree that the knights will definately be better for the run

well played saints but I expected a better game

Wrong again.

Tahu was placed on report. And rightly so. Penalty and being placed on report was warranted.

Try watching the match next time.

Wait, so is there any logic or reason behind this statement at all, or are you just dribbling shit because the Knights have Bennett and the Dragons don't? How can you possibly say that after the first game of the season on a wet night, with new coaches, a new fullback, and a 2nd rower playing in the centres that the Dragons wont improve...

well played saints but I expected a better game

What did you expect in round 1 on a wet night when both teams have got new coaches and a lot of new players in their teams? An game of finals or origin quality?

grats to the dragons, had more composure than us, particularly under pressure.

i think we have miles and miles of improvement in us. we looked like a bunch of individuals on the field, rather than a team. i thought we improved as the game went on, and i probably expect that for a while yet. was great to see Boyd running around in red and blue, always looked dangerous. i think our forward pack performed well below its ability, almost across the board.

it's hard not to be disappointed, but i expected this might be the case. it was still an exciting game to be at. a good, tight contest to open the season. best of luck to the dragons for the rest of the year, i think they have improvement in them too.

I was very impressed with the Dragons defense. Far to early to make any predictions on either side but one things for certain the Dragons will defend well as usual. I suppose like all teams depth in the key positions might be a issue if they get a injury run

The better team won, in a typical early in the season game, with plenty of errors on both sides.
Result is much closer than it should have been, but Dragons have only themselves to blame, failing to capitalise several times in good position. Their defense was excellent most of the time, but the Scott at centre experiment went really wrong, as he had a shocker in every aspect of the game and was nowhere to be found when the Knights scored both tries where he should've been.

Knights only looked dangerous when Boyd got involved, but have improvement in them... probably enough for a top 8 spot, but I fail to see how they're favourites for the premiership or even close to it.
