the rule where the trainer calls for the ref to stop play was designed for serious injuries where the player was at immediate risk. Given it was a knee injury and 50 metres behind play, stewart did not fit that criteria. Play was nowhere near him, and his life wasn't at risk. Play on.

^^ nfi.

1st try, ball was definetely raked out - look at the way the Melbourne player's hand / wrist ends up - result of a raking motion. I can live with the video ref decision.

2nd try - that pass was 2m back -ridiculous considering some forward passes that escape scrutiny. Whoever made that call needs to be dropped - what were they watching?

I wonder who it is that makes the decision on who win what games during the lead up.

Would love some heads up from them, would help my sports bet account

Agreed, but my $5 on Lowrie for FTS at $41 eases the pain somewhat.

The rule is that time shall only be stopped if continuing of play will endanger the injured player.

Stewart was 40m downfield with a knee injury. Not in danger at all.

The NRL allow for play to be stopped for head/neck injuries regardless of where they are on the field due to the potential seriousness of such injuries
Ok, thanks for the real interpretation.

i think sometimes ref feel the need to inject themselves into a game to gain some form of control as opposed to be secure enough to allow the teams to decide the result. hehe if melbourne lose this, i cant wait for bellamy to let off post match.

That Cherry-Evans try was a joke. There really needs to be a bigger emphasis on ball security. When he's reaching out one handed of course the slightest bump will knock it out. The interpretation of the rule has become absolutely ridiculous.
