I've seen decoy runners get taken out countless times with no penalty. It was the severity of the hit that made them blow the whistle.

Yeah it happens all the time. Refs just choose not to rule on it.

As you stated it was the severity of the hit and also if they had of given the penalty to the tigers, they would be dropped for next week.

Now i know you have never played the game before but the simple fact is you cant hit a decoy runner, even if they have ran past the ball.

if heighington hadnt have hit him it would have been a Tigers penalty.
I have and still do play the game.

If you looked at the right camera angle it was obvious Heighington only hit him because he got in his way. Heighington was aiming at Cherry.

I've already said I understand the letter of the laws support the refs decision. But the letter of the law is wrong.

Heighington does look like he'd struggle to finish 3rd grade but he isn't dumb enough to go for a non attacking option for fun.

To the letter of the law it was Manly penalty. To the spirit of the law it was Tigers penalty or at least play on.
