Of course you will, it's an even year. You have to go back to 02-03 to find a break in the pattern (made the finals in both years, though 02 they snuck into 8th after the Dogs were dumped). 04, 06, 08, 10, 12 - Canberra play finals. 05, 07, 09, 11, 13 - Canberra don't play finals. It's almost as reliable as the f**king hoodoo (only the flogging in 07 breaks a streak going back to the dodgy draw in 02).
We've already lost Dugan, Thompson, Williams and Earl. Berrigan will probably retire. Ferguson is likely to be deregistered and we will cave in to Milford's contract termination on compassionate grounds. We managed to recruit Bill Tupou and Lagi Setu.
McCrone has regressed to park football but still plays better at hooker than Buttriss. Campese is a shadow of his former self. TLL would be lucky to play half of the games. Croker is still a massive defensive liability.
We throw our u20 guys straight into first grade, surrounding them with mediocre players and put all of the pressure on them to pull everything together. I can totally understand why Dugan developed an attitude problem with the club, and why Milford would prefer to play for the Broncos. Why turn up to training when it's obviously having no improvement on anyone else? Why hang around at the Raiders when there is so much instability?
I am still unable to comprehend why it took them so long to remove Furner, especially when you consider the trail of bodies in his wake - Millward, Pongia, McFadden, Morgan, all the strength and conditioning coaches. Players removing themselves from the senior leadership group. All the players that we had to let go because of behavioural issues after Furner's long term appointment was announced... Carney, Goodwin, Vidot, Dugan, Monaghan and now Ferguson. Weyman didn't see much of a future at the club and then managed to play twice as many games for the Dragons in less time that he played for the Raiders.
This shit doesn't just fix itself overnight. We may not win the wooden spoon but we won't be playing in the finals.
