You'll find very few Warriors fans who are cut about him leaving. Not to say he isn't a decent player, but he's no great loss.

For the Panthers to win the Wallace - Soward combination will have to fire and win the game with there kicking games. I think the forward battle will probably be fairly even but the Knights clearly have the edge in the outside backs given Idris is out. Heart says Panthers but the head says the Bennett coached knights maybe too strong.

This should be a good'un. Tipping the Pennies in a tight one, but Newcastle are more than capable of getting the $. Will be very interested to see how Soward goes, hope he carves up for the Panthers.

Cheering for Panthers of course but do not expect to win this one. Knights have been together for much longer than our Frankenstein of a team and they gave the finals a good shake last year.

Happy to be proven wrong, of course.

One advantage of poor start to the season would be that all the new talent we've got sitting in the lower grades might get their shot sooner, so there will be a silver lining even if we keep up our form of slow season starts.

Jamal was never going to win it for us. The coach has known he may not play for weeks now. No doubt we have alternatives. Still a 50/50 game.

If the Knights do happen to beat them I doubt it'll be for this reason. Sure most of the Knights squad is settled but people seem to forget that they've lost 50% of their spine (and two most important players) from last year. Losing your hooker and best half can be just as disruptive as having a mostly new squad anyway. If that's what you're worried about for Penrith's sake I wouldn't be because I don't think the Knights have an advantage there given the importance of the players they've lost anyway.

Knights will not win, I guarantee it. I was backing the Panthers when I thought Mullen was playing. Knights to lose this game, put your house on it.

If you have faith in Gus you have faith in Penrith. They've been losing for years. It's time they started winning.

They'll beat the Knights, they'll finish the season higher than the Knights. You heard it here first.

For all the hype they have gotten, I'd say the Panthers are still weaker in every starting position except the 6 (only due to Mullen being out) than the Knights. Maybe centers as well in a tight one.

Have a feeling Knights are raring to go this season and will bolt out of the gates

Kingston-Segayaro shits on Gidley from a great height.

Grant shits on any Knights prop.

The Lewis Brown-Elijah Taylor 2nd row duo is way better than old man Beau Scott and Nobody Robbie Rochow.

Would have liked to see this game after 6 weeks when each team is settled into the season and has knocked the rust off... Going for Penrith but tipping the Knights narrowly.

The way I see it:

Newcastle backs >>>> Panthers backs (Put Idris and Mullen back in, and the gap doesn't change much)
Newcastle pack > Panthers pack (slightly; Brown and Taylor in the second row is incredibly uninspiring, and Kingston? Meh)
Panthers bench >>>> Newcastle bench (ha, Waddell)
Bennett > Cleary

Knights to win.
