I remember 2011 in the first round at home to the Knights when we were absolutely deplorable and got fisted 42-8.

I hope Gus uses that embarrassment as a red rag to really get our team riled up.

The only concern I do have is the defensive positional play in as far as players getting their communication on song.

If that plays well for this round,I can see a great start to the season in getting at least 4 or 5 wins out of our 1st 6 starts.

But it has to start next week.

Panthers 24-16.

I genuinely rate the Panthers. Every year there's a team that goes on a big climb up the ladder and I rate Penrith enough to think they'll push for a top 4 spot.

Ummm yeah, they nearly made the 8 with a squad lacking in depth and a poor run with injuries to key players last year. Most league observers believe they should improve on 2013 as they have a much improved first 17 and very, very good depth.

You do realise you have a habit of repeating what others say don't you Captain Obvious?

That said I believe Panthers fans might appreciate it if you start tipping the old and tired team in this game as your record for tipping winners is deplorable.

Last season I averaged 4.2 correct tips a week.

give the panthers a few rounds to gel together, given the knights have no mullen and the panthers do have soward it will be low scoring 14-10 to newcastle

Bunniesman : 5% more accurate than tossing a coin.

& that's considering his team had a successful season.

Lucky rabbits won most of their games or he'd be less than 1/2.

I suppose that would match with the rest of his fearless predictions.

While I don't have as high an opinion on the 2014 Panthers as some, I do like them in round 1. I think both teams will have issues while their spines gel early on so this one should be interesting.

Penrith at home too hard to pass up but Wallace and Soward brand new combo may take time to click 100% so I'm taking Penrith but not confidently
